Welcome to a special Black Friday edition of the value plays column. I hope everyone had a good Turkey day yesterday and a successful shopping experience this morning. Now that you have spent all your money on Christmas gifts, I’m going to help you win some of it back with my version of Black Friday specials. As always, players in this column will all be under $5,500.

Point Guard

Shabazz Napier (POR) $4,000 @ BKN
Napier has strung together a series of good games for the Blazers. He has scored 26 or more FanDuel in four of his last six games and logged 27-plus minutes in his last two. Tonight he gets a matchup with the Nets that bleed points to opposing point guards.

Shooting Guard

Jeremy Lamb (CHA) $5,500 @ CLE
Nicolas Batum is questionable for tonight’s game, and if he were to miss it, Lamb becomes an elite value at $5,500. Only three teams give up more FanDuel points to shooting guards then do the Cavs, making Lamb the top value play as long as Batum is out.

Small Forward

Courtney Lee (NYK) $5,200 @ ATL
I was having a hard time trying to find a good value at small forward, and while Lee doesn’t have a ton of upside, he gets 30-plus minutes a game and can fill up the box score in every category. He has had at least 28 FanDuel points in three of his last four games, including a 39.5 explosion his last time out against the Raptors. The Hawks give up 42.88 FanDuel points to small forwards, which ranks them as the sixth worst team in that metric.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (CHA) $5,100 @ CLE
Kidd-Gilchrist, or MKG if you prefer, is a GPP only type of value. He is a wildly inconsistent scorer but is capable of putting up good fantasy points from time to time. In fact, he put up 41.2 FanDuel points on November 15. His opponent that night? The Cavaliers.

Power Forward

Bobby Portis (CHI) $4,200 @ GSW
When Portis is not punching his teammates in the face, he is actually a decent player. The biggest thing holding him back is inconsistent minutes off the bench, ranging anywhere from 17-to-29 per game. It’s a small sample size, but he is averaging 7.8 rebounds per game which gives him a high floor and it’s his rebounding that interests me in this game. This will be a “pace up” game for the Bulls and will feature a ton of shots, and the more shots, the more rebounding chances. Portis could flirt with a double-double tonight.

Center

Greg Monroe (PHO) $4,100 vs NO
Coming off a huge “revenge game” against the Bucks a few nights ago, Monroe will likely be needed to play big again with Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins up next. Tyson Chandler has logged more than 30 minutes only twice this season and Alex Len got a DNP-CD in the Suns’ last game. Monroe should be able to post good numbers against a Pels team allowing — on average — 47.8 FanDuel points per game to the center position. As good as Cousins is, he has never been a good defender.
