FanDuel NHL Value Plays: Tuesday (11/21)

FanDuel NHL Value Plays: Tuesday (11/21)

Tonight we have a small three-game slate. Although there is a lack of games being played, the ownership should be spread fairly evenly across all three games. Each game is expected to have a 5.5 game total. This write-up will provide low owned, cheap, salary saving options which can pay off value tonight so you can pay up for the expensive players. Make sure to check injury news, line combinations, and confirmed starting goalies before lineup lock.

Center

Valtteri Filppula (PHI): $3,700 vs. VAN
The Flyers are in a fairly good spot tonight against the Vancouver Canucks. The top line center Sean Couturier and second line, rookie center, Nolan Patrick, are also great plays. At just $3,700, Filppula has an opportunity to pay off salary as well. Although it has been a rough start to the season for the veteran, Filppula is getting plenty of opportunity in both even strength and power play time. There are not a lot of options to under $4,000 tonight at center, so look for Filppula to take advantage of his opportunities tonight.

Wing

Charles Hudon (MON): $3,400 @ DAL
Although the goals have been lacking this season for Hudon, the young sniper throws a ton of shots on net. With 56 shots on goal this season, the goals should start coming. Hudon will slot in on the second power-play unit which will add to his value and goal scoring opportunity. In cash games, Charles Hudon is a great play because his floor appears to be so high with the volume of shots on net. In GPP’s, teammate Paul Byron is a viable pivot at winger who is getting more five on five ice time playing on the second forward line while also joining Hudon on the power play.

Drake Caggiula (EDM): $3,600 @ STL
Be sure to check the latest line combinations leading up to the game before locking Caggiula into your lineup. Last game out, McLellan decided to split up McDavid and Draisaitl on the first line. This gave an opportunity for Drake Caggiula to skate alongside Connor McDavid on the top line. As a result, the talented winger scored two goals (one shorthanded). Caggiula and McDavid showed instant chemistry last game in Dallas and if the two start together again, he becomes a great value play with multiple point upside at near minimum price.

Defense

Jeff Petry (MON): $3,700 @ DAL
Petry is averaging close to 24 minutes a night for the Canadiens and logging a lot of power play time on the second unit. Although less of a shooter and more of a passer, Petry has been impressive at contributing in all categories this season. With 41 shots, 28 blocked shots, two goals, and three assists so far, Petry is a great high floor option for less than $4,000. On a night with a lack of options, the Montreal defensemen is a great option as a lock for minutes and production.

Goalie

Brian Elliott (PHI): $7,700 vs. VAN
As the heaviest favorite on the night, Elliot will likely be the highest owned netminder on the slate. That being said, he is “good chalk” tonight. Not only is he the most affordable goalie expected to start tonight, he gets a great matchup and has a good defensive team in front of him. He most likely will not see a lot of shots, ut should come away with the win at home.
