Week 12 is already here. Thanksgiving, trade deadlines, the drive towards the fantasy playoffs, and a day full of food, family, and football. This truly is the greatest time of the year for fantasy football fans.
The fantasy playoff push is obviously an important distraction to this week’s festivities and analyzing every NFL target from the previous week remains a useful tool for the prepared fantasy owner.
So using the available data from our friends at Pro Football Focus, let’s take a look at the results from Week 11 and see how they affect Week 12 and the final month of the 2017 fantasy football season.
We’re done with bye weeks as of Week 12 but missing due to Week 11 byes: Carolina, Indianapolis, New York Jets, San Francisco

Reserve tight end Ricky Seals-Jones was the big story for the Cardinals. Seal-Jones hadn’t logged a snap all season and played just eight against the Texans but drew five targets and converted those looks into three catches, 54 yards, and his first two pro touchdowns. Don’t count on a repeat of these results as Seal-Jones is, at best, Arizona’s third tight end and won’t be a big part of a passing attack down to its third quarterback.
John Brown caught half of his six targets before leaving with a turf toe injury, which comes as no surprise for the oft-injured wideout. Bruce Arians indicated that third-round rookie Chad Williams would get a chance to play more but the Cardinals host Jacksonville’s top-ranked secondary, so expectations should be lowered for Week 12.
The Cardinals released Andre Ellington so it looks like Kerwynn Williams will be the main change-of-pace and passing-down back for Arizona. Williams drew a pair of targets in nine snaps during the Cardinals’ loss at Houston.

Terron Ward | ATL | 1 | 1 | 11 | 0 | 0 |
Even without Devonta Freeman in the lineup, Tevin Coleman continued to have a disappointing role in the Atlanta passing attack. Coleman hasn’t caught more than one pass in any game since Week 4 after catching 13 passes in the Falcons’ first four contests. Freeman is expected back in Week 12, so no reason to think Coleman will suddenly revert back to September form against Tampa.
It’s been a disappointing year for Julio Jones, who ranks 10th in the NFL with 86 targets but has managed just two 100-yards games and scored a single touchdown all season. The Falcons host a Bucs secondary that has allowed the most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season, but Jones is hard to trust as anything more than a WR2 at this point.
Austin Hooper remains maddingly inconsistent. After three straight games with six targets, including a touchdown in two of the three, Hooper drew only two looks against the Seahawks and ended up with negative offensive yards. Hooper is hard to trust as even a streamer in Week 12 as the Falcons host a Bucs defense that ranks 6th against tight ends.

Welcome back Danny Woodhead and it was nice knowing you, Javorius Allen. Alex Collins led the Ravens backfield with 38 snaps and Woodhead played 13 but drew six touches. Allen played just 10 snaps and generated 17 yards of offense.
Joe Flacco has been under 200 passing yards in four of the past five games and has thrown only nine touchdowns against 11 interceptions in 10 games. Flaco ranks 40th among NFL quarterbacks in fantasy points-per-game. Elite? Flacco should barely be owned in 2QB leagues.
With such a low-volume passing offense, no Baltimore wide receiver ranks in the top-50 in targets. Jeremy Maclin leads the club with 47 looks, which ranks 58th. WR2 Mike Wallace has just 39 targets in nine games.

The illogical decision to bench Tyrod Taylor blew up in Sean McDermott’s face as Nathan Peterman was an unmitigated disaster, throwing five first-half interceptions and torpedoing Buffalo’s offense. Taylor produced 196 yards of offense and a pair of scores in the second half but the game was long over. Expect McDermott to stick with Taylor for the remainder of the season and for Taylor, a pending free agent, to have a new address in 2018.
Deonte Thompson led Buffalo with eight targets but was only fourth in the Bills receiving corps with 32 snaps. Other snap counts from Week 11: Zay Jones 53, Brandon Tate 47, Andre Holmes 39, and Kelvin Benjamin played four before leaving with a knee injury.
With the Bills getting blown out, Travaris Cadet saw his first action of the season, getting nine touches in 23 snaps and catching all six of his targets. Moving forward, Cadet has little value behind workhorse McCoy and Mike Tolbert, who should return this week.

Jordan Howard rumbled for 125 yards and a touchdown on 15 touches but wasn’t targeted at all in the passing game. This is the third time in Chicago’s past four games that Howard went un-targeted. Howard and Tarik Cohen, who led the Beard with four catches on five targets, both played 31 snaps.
Since trading for him two weeks ago, Dontrelle Inman has led Chicago’s receiving corps in snaps and caught nine balls for 131 yards in a very limited Bears’ passing attack. Inman is listed behind Kendall Wright but appears to be the acting WR1.
Josh Bellamy played 41% of the snaps last week but wasn’t targeted. This is the fifth time in six games that Bellamy failed to record a single catch.

A.J. Green ended up with a decent game in a very tough matchup with Denver’s elite cornerbacks, but Green will face an even tougher task in Week 12 being shadowed by Cleveland’s shutdown corner, Jason McCourty. You’re unlikely to sit Green in head-to-head leagues but this is a week to downgrade him in DFS.
The Bengals appear to be rotating their WR3 and WR4 duties. Josh Malone played the most in Week 9 and 10 but ended up splitting time with Tyler Boyd and Alex Erickson in Week 11. Erickson got into the end-zone against the Broncos but will probably play the least down the stretch.
Tyler Kroft is very touchdown-dependant and has a great matchup with the Browns in Week 12. Cleveland has allowed the most receptions to tight ends and eight touchdowns in 10 games.

Josh Gordon is back on the practice field and eligible to return in Week 13 when the Browns travel to Los Angeles to face the Chargers. There’s no telling how Hue Jackson will use Gordon but the best guess is that he will take snaps away from Ricardo Louis, who has been lining up on the right side opposite of Corey Coleman.
Isaiah Crowell had his worst game of the season against the Jaguars loaded front seven. Crowell was held to 1.6 yards-per-carry and played no role in the Cleveland passing game. It may have just been game flow related but Crowell has been out-snapped by Duke Johnson two games in a row.
Rashard Higgins has run almost exclusively out of the slot, so his role might be the safest of all of Cleveland’s secondary receivers once Gordon is back in two weeks. It probably won’t matter much in fantasy as Higgins has been held to one or zero catches in three of the past four Browns’ contests.

Dez Bryant led all players in Week 11 with 14 targets but was kept in check by Philadelphia’s secondary. On a short week, Bryant is set to face off with elite Los Angeles corner Casey Hayward, Pro Football Focus’s No. 3 ranked cornerback.
LT Tyron Smith’s absence has had a huge impact on the Dallas offense. Dak Prescott has been under siege, suffering 12 sacks and turning the ball over at an alarming rate as the Cowboys have dropped both games and are in danger of falling out of playoff contention.
Alfred Morris and Rod Smith combined for 55 snaps but neither running back was targeted in the passing game. The Cowboys offensive line woes caused Jason Witten to say in-line to block and that could be repeated in Week 12 as Dallas contends with a fearsome Chargers defensive line.

Mike McCoy is out as Denver’s offensive coordinator so all bets are off on how the Broncos offense will shake out in Oakland this week. Paxton Lynch is set to draw his first start of the 2017 season and will likely finish the season as the starter as the Broncos audition for next year.
Osweiler’s presence has really helped Demaryius Thomas, who has now scored in three straight games after failing to hit the end-zone for close to a full calendar year. Thomas led Denver in targets, catches, and yards in Week 11’s home loss to the Bengals.
After trending close to 50/50 committee for two weeks, Devontae Booker out-snapped C.J. Anderson 48-29. Anderson did score on a short-yardage touchdown but generated just 56 yards on 15 touches. Booker got 19 touches and accounted for 98 yards of offense.

Theo Riddick jumped up from just 17 snaps in Week 10 to 30 last week, which was 53% of Detroit’s plays. Unfortunately, Jim Bob Cooter isn’t using Riddick near as much as he did last year as Riddick has surpassed 10 touches once all season.
Matthew Stafford hasn’t thrown for more than two touchdowns against Minnesota since the 2012 season and has been held to under 290 passing yards in eight straight games in this NFC North series.

Brett Hundley is adept at getting the ball to Davante Adams but nobody else in Green Bay’s offense. Adams has caught 20 balls for 269 yards and a touchdown in the Packers’ past three games, while Jordy Nelson has struggled all the way down to nine grabs and 79 yards without a score.
With Aaron Jones and Ty Montgomery missing from the lineup, rookie RB Jamaal Williams played 88% of Green Bay’s snaps this week and turned 22 touches into 95 yards of offense. Williams is only running for 3.2 yards-per-carry on the season and is likely to take a back seat to Montgomery once his ribs have healed.
Green Bay’s tight ends have combined for four catches and 25 yards in the past two games.

Tom Savage had the best game of his career, completing 69% of his throws for 230 yards and his first two-score game. The 7.2 yard-per-attempt figure was also the best he’s put up but Savage is unlikely to enjoy much success in Week 12 as the Texans travel to Baltimore to face the Ravens’ No. 2 ranked pass defense.
Just when rookie RB D’Onta Foreman showcased his potential he ruptured his Achilles scoring his second touchdown of the day and is lost for the remainder of the season. Alfred Blue will take over Houston’s RB2 but the most likely scenario is that Lamar Miller will end up seeing more snaps and touches. Newly-signed Andre Ellington should also be an immediate factor on passing downs.
Braxton Miller lept up to a 91% snap share this week with Will Fuller (ribs) sidelined. Fuller is likely to suit up this week so that will kick Bruce Ellington back into the slot and push Miller back to a reserve role. Either way, the only wideout to trust on Houston against the Ravens is DeAndre Hopkins.

Dede Westbrook made his pro debut, playing 35 snaps and coming up just 165 yards shy of his goal of a 200-yard NFL debut. With Allen Hurns (ankle) still not practicing as of Tuesday, there’s a good chance that Westbrook will see plenty of action at Arizona.
Marcedes Lewis only averages 3.3 targets-per-game but has managed to score a touchdown on an impressive five of his 14 receptions. That’s what Lewis is for the fun-first Jags–a touchdown-dependant, low-volume option that is nothing more than a weekly dart throw.
Jacksonville seems to be moving on from Chris Ivory. Ivory got only six snaps in Week 11 after logging eight in Week 10. For comparison, Leonard Fournette played 97 snaps and T.J. Yeldon logged 51 over the same stretch.

Tyreek Hill caught all seven of his targets but four of the seven grabs went for under 10 yards and Hill remains under-utilized in the red-zone, where he’s caught only one of three targets all season.
Demarcus Robinson played 100% of the Chiefs’ snaps for the third time in four games but remains mostly uninvolved in the offense. Robinson has two or fewer receptions in nine of Kansas City’s 10 games.

Allen’s scores came from 2- and 21-yards out and both came in the second quarter, just two minutes and 23 seconds apart.
If you need a stat that’s indicative of how valuable Antonio Gates is both to the Chargers and to fantasy owners, the Chargers put up 54 points in a game and Gates didn’t even catch a pass.

Robert Woods had another excellent game, catching eight of 10 targets before exiting against the Vikings with a shoulder injury that is expected to sideline the wideout for at least two weeks. To replace Woods, the Rams will probably use a rotation of Tavon Austin, Pharoh Cooper, Mike Thomas, and Josh Reynolds but none of these replacement-level wideouts have any fantasy value. Ultimately, Sammy Watkins, Cooper Kupp, and the tight ends should see more targets.
Speaking of Kupp, he drew another red zone target this week and now ranks fifth in the NFL with 16 red zone targets on the season.
Todd Gurley played a season-high 96% of LA’s snaps, leaving only five snaps for Lance Dunbar. The Rams may choose to go more run-heavy in the wake of Robert Woods’s injury, so Gurley’s high snap rate should continue for at least the next two games.

Five of Jarvis Landry‘s 11 targets came from Jay Cutler, including his 2-yard touchdown in the first quarter. If Moore ends up starting at New England, Landry’s chances of cashing in a short-yardage score will go down significantly.

Adam Thielen has gone over 98 receiving yards in three straight games and is the WR3 for the season in PPR formats. Thielen is averaging an impressive 20.3 yards-per-catch over the past three games.

After a strong showing in Week 10, Rex Burkhead fumbled and only received a handful of touches for the remainder of the game. As Mike Gillislee learned, nothing gets you benched faster by Bill Belichick than fumbles, so it wouldn’t be a shock to see James White reclaim some touches in Week 12.
With Chris Hogan missing a second-straight game, New England ran more ’12’ sets with Rob Gronkowski, Martellus Bennett and even Dwayne Allen mixed in. The Dolphins have allowed the seventh-most yards to opposing tight ends, so we may see a similar approach this week, especially if Hogan (shoulder) is ruled out.

In the Saints last four games, Alvin Kamara has produced 482 yards of offense and scored five times During the same stretch, Mark Ingram has tallied 464 total yards and scored five times. That’s a total of 946 yards of offense and 10 touchdowns.
Michael Thomas had another big week but failed to get into the end zone for the sixth consecutive game. Thomas’s deflated TD numbers are likely a product of the new New Orleans run-first attack, but Thomas has only caught three red zone targets all season from six targets.
Coby Fleener easily had his best game of the season, with five grabs and 91 yards. This was the first time Fleener exceeded 22 snaps in the past six Saints’ games. The Saints travel to LA to take on a Rams defense that has been solid against tight ends in 2017, so don’t expect a repeat from Fleener.

Evan Engram caught his first target of the day, then failed to haul in any of his remaining looks. Engram did catch a 28-yard pass down to the Kansas City 3-yard line but was called for offensive pass interference. Engram should bounce back in Week 12 but does have a short week of travel as the Giants take on Washington on Thanksgiving night.
WR1 Sterling Shepard missed last week with severe migraines and hasn’t practiced at all on a short week so he’s highly likely to miss another game. That will leave New York to repeat the Week 11 rotation of Tavarres King and Roger Lewis starting and undrafted rookie Travis Rudolph as the WR3.
Giants’ Week 11 RB touches: Orleans Darkwa– 22, Wayne Gallman– 7, Shane Vereen– 5. Darkwa is the clear lead back in New York and the only one that is fantasy relevant.

Michael Crabtree’s pair of drops were the most by a wide receiver in Week 11 but it’s teammate Amari Cooper who leads the entire NFL with 10 drops so far this season.
Cooper has another inefficient game before salvaging some fantasy value with a fourth-quarter, 9-yard touchdown. Cooper has been held to less than 50 receiving yards in seven of Oakland’s 10 games. Up next, a date with Denver’s excellent pair of corners in Aqib Talib and Chris Harris, Jr.
The Patriots were able to neutralize Jared Cook and Cook tied a season-low with just two catches. The good news, however, is that the Raiders take on a Denver defense that has given up up the second-most yards to tight ends this season.

Mack Hollins | PHI | 1 | 1 | 7 | 0 | 0 |
Jay Ajayi | PHI | 1 | 1 | 10 | 0 | 0 |
Alshon Jeffery stayed hot, scoring his fourth touchdown in the past three Eagles’ contests. Jeffery has yet to eclipse 100-yards in 2017 but remains a top-20 PPR wideout due to his six touchdowns.
Jay Ajayi played just 13 snaps (22%) but touched the ball eight times and racked up 101 yards. Ajayi busted out a 71-yard gainer in this game and has shown way more big-play ability in 30 snaps with Philadelphia than he did in half a season with the Dolphins. Philly’s excellent offensive line is probably a big reason for that but sometimes all it takes is a change of scenery.
Zach Ertz had his worst game of the season, catching just two of five looks for eight yards. Ditto for Nelson Agholor, who actually ended up with negative yardage from his only reception. With these figures, it looks like the Eagles offense really struggled, yet Philadelphia still won this game 37-9.

Jesse James | PIT | 8 | 5 | 21 | 1 | 0 |
Martavis Bryant | PIT | 4 | 2 | 30 | 0 | 1 |
The Steelers only had five players register a target in Week 11 and easily dispatched the Tennessee Titans 40-17 on Thursday Night Football.
Antonio Brown had his best game of the season, hauling in 10 balls for 144 yards and three touchdowns. This was Brown’s fourth game with double-digit receptions and 100+ receiving yards. Up next Brown gets a home matchup against a very average Green Bay secondary.
Le’Veon Bell is averaging over 28 touches every week but is only generating 119 total yards of offense and has just five touchdowns. Last year, Bell averaged 4.9 yards-per-carry and 8.9 yards-per-catch. In 2017, he’s dipped to 3.8 and 6.3 respectively.

Mike Davis | SEA | 2 | 2 | 41 | 0 | 0 |
Luke Willson | SEA | 1 | 1 | 3 | 0 | 0 |
Jimmy Graham has scored all seven of his touchdowns in Seattle’s past six games. Graham isn’t playing a big downfield role like he did with New Orleans. Instead, he’s (finally) being utilized as premiere red zone threat. If the Seahawks can get Graham isolated on a smaller cornerback, there’s little doubt where the ball is going. Graham leads the NFL with 24 red zone targets.
The Falcons did an excellent job neutralizing Doug Baldwin until Baldwin caught a 29-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to close the gap. Even with that score, Baldwin’s two catches were the fewest he’s tallied in 2017.
Seattle’s backfield continues to be a huge mess. Thomas Rawls was a healthy scratch in Week 11 and Mike Davis, fresh off the practice squad was fairing well until he suffered a groin injury that will keep him out for at least one game. Eddie Lacy plodded his way to two rushing yards on three totes and passing-down back J.D. McKissic ended up leading the backfield with 30 rushing yards.

Peyton Barber | TB | 2 | 2 | 11 | 0 | 0 |
Chris Godwin | TB | 2 | 2 | 38 | 0 | 0 |
The Bucs are also struggling to establish much of a ground game. Doug Martin averaged just 2.0 yards-per-tote on 19 carries and Jacquizz Rodgers and Charles Sims combined for six yards on two carries. Peyton Barber played just three snaps but hauled in both of his targets for 11 yards.
No surprise to see Chris Godwin drop from a 100% snap share down to 35% in Tampa’s victory over Miami. Godwin’s increased role was due to Mike Evans serving a one-game suspension. With Evans back and taking his usual target share, Godwin saw just two looks.
Week 11 was the third straight week in which O.J. Howard out-snapped Cameron Brate. Over those three games, Howard has caught four balls for 58 yards and a touchdown and Brate has only caught one ball in each contest and totaled just 31 yards.

When you look at Marcus Mariota‘s numbers and efficiency and compare them to his first two seasons, they’re not that far off. Mariota is averaging 232 passing yards-per-game this season which is right in-line with his career number and his passing yards-per-attempt and rushing production are very similar. The biggest difference has been in touchdowns and interceptions. Mariota’s 2.8-percent TD% is less than half of what he put up last year and his INT% now stands at 3.6-percent versus last year’s 2.0.
Derrick Henry had a quiet Week 11, playing just over one-quarter of Tennessee’s snaps and accumulating just 32 rushing yards on seven totes and going un-targeted in the passing game. DeMarco Murray playing 88% of Tennessee’s snaps, which was his highest rate of the year and undoubtedly a product of the Titans trailing throughout the contest.
TE Delaine Walker had his highest yardage output of the season but failed to haul in either of his red zone targets. Walker is still looking for his first receiving touchdown of 2017. Perhaps that elusive score will finally come in Week 12 as Tennessee travels to Indianapolis to face a Colts defense that has allowed five TE touchdowns in their past eight games.

Losing Chris Thompson for the season to a broken leg is a big blow to Washington’s offense. Thompson was the RB9 in PPR leagues and was leading all NFL running backs with 510 receiving yards and four touchdown receptions. Byron Marshall is next up as Washington’s change-of-pace runner.
Jamison Crowder had a third-straight game with 70+ receiving yards but is still looking for his first touchdown of the year. Washington’s slot receiver, Crowder is looking at even more targets in the passing game with the season-ending injury to Thompson.
Terrelle Pryor (ankle) was also placed on injured reserve. The Redskins should get TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) back this week and could run a lot more ’12’ sets with Reed and Vernon Davis picking up the slack for the injured Washington pass-catchers.
