Quarterback

Tyrod Taylor (BUF) vs. NO
Don’t look now, but the Saints have a real, legit defense. Starting with a fierce pass rush and arguably the best CB in the NFC, they’re on fire. They’re a top-3 defense against the pass the last month and are showing zero signs of slowing down. Taylor will need more than the addition of Kelvin Benjamin to have a chance here.

Kirk Cousins (WAS) vs. MIN
Cousins has been solid this season. Mostly, it’s him spreading the ball around considerably and his supporting cast underperforming. This week, I expect him to have a tough game facing a Vikings unit that allows just 200 passing yards per game. When your leading receiver is a running back, your offense is going to sputter.

Running Back

Ameer Abdullah (DET) vs. CLE
Speaking of RBs, this one fumbled twice on Monday and could see a reduced workload as a result. AA could be in the doghouse and that’s a bad combo against the Dawg Pound’s stingy run defense. The Lions will likely do some fourth-quarter clock killing, but I doubt that task is given to Abdullah against a top-3 run D.

Isaiah Crowell (CLE) @ DET
The Crow hasn’t been himself this year and I don’t anticipate he gets back on track this weekend against the Lions top-5 run D. Detroit allows just under 90 yards per game and this, much like all of the Browns games, will likely shape up to be a Duke Johnson week as they’ll likely be facing a negative game script…again.

Adrian Peterson (ARI) vs. SEA
I’d normally like AP versus Seattle’s run D, but not at 33 years old coming off a career-high 39 touches just four days ago. I get Peterson has defied medical logic throughout his tenure in the NFL, but this is a bad situation with Drew Stanton at the helm. No passing threat means more loaded boxes…boxes with Bobby Wagner.

Wide Receiver/Tight End

Doug Baldwin (SEA) @ ARI
Baldwin’s season has been somewhat of a roller coaster thus far. My advice is to stay away in Week 10 as he’s almost certain to have traveling shadow coverage from Patrick Peterson this week, on every snap. Peterson continues his shut down ways, and he’s one of the few CBs who actually switch sides to lock down opponent’s WR1.

Keenan Allen (SD) @ JAX
If you’ve been paying attention to these articles, you’ll notice trends like avoiding PatPete (above). You’ll also notice a staple of my writing each week is strongly cautioning you to avoid WRs against the Jaguars, no matter the name. The Jags have the best passing defense in the league and it’s not even close. Allen will get targets, but he’ll do very little with them.

Dez Bryant (DAL) @ ATL
Dez is dealing with both knee and ankle injuries and draws coverage of Marcus Trufant this week. While not truly a “shut down” corner, the dirty birds passing D has been a top-10 unit and it really doesn’t matter who’s on Dez. Atlanta has been especially stellar recently, all of their DBs are limiting opponents to minimal production.

T.Y. Hilton/Jack Doyle (IND) vs. PIT
Hilton once again produced in a game where he was absent from this column, he’s back and I highly advise staying away from this secondary. So far on the year, I’m 9/9 on T.Y. calls. He smashed last week and against the Browns…The Steelers are not the Browns or the beat-up Texans. Fade him!

The Steelers are still a top-3 passing defense, allowing just over 200 yards per game to opposing pass catchers. Doyle has had a good couple weeks, but that should come to a halt against the Pittsburgh zone. There is a chance that he can get you some good garbage time production, but that can’t be said for Hilton.
