Quarterback
Matt Ryan (ATL) vs. MIN
Matty Ice has a tough matchup against a nasty Vikings D. They’ve held opposing QBs to miniscule completion rates in the last four weeks and just one passing touchdown on average. They can put consistent pressure on the QB and are lights out on third down. They specialize in getting off the field, which means Ryan will as well.
Matthew Stafford (DET) @ BAL
Baltimore has the second-best passing defense behind only Jacksonville. The Lions have consistently struggled to run every week for years and that will make things easier for the Ravens to drop more defenders into coverage, limiting Stafford’s effectiveness. Expect an ugly, low-scoring game with reduced passing production.
Running Back
Latavius Murray (MIN) @ ATL
Murray had a nice consistent workload the past four weeks and the touchdowns have been there. For this reason, there will likely be some recency bias and people may draft him early. He’s OK in the last round, but I’d stay clear altogether against a Falcons D that has only allowed 3.5 YPC over the last four games.
Kareem Hunt (KC) @ NYJ
Hunt was a darling early in the year but the offense is now broken and in shambles as Andy Reid simply refuses to give him a meaningful workload. The Chiefs O-Line has been atrocious in the last four weeks as well. Hunt’s fantasy points per game will have him pretty high in the player pool, but I’d avoid him with a bad matchup on the road.
Kenyan Drake (MIA) vs. DEN
This is a matchup of two of the most abhorrent offenses in the league. With the Damian Williams injury, Drake will inherit a large workload. Even if that’s the case, this a brutal matchup against Denver’s top-five run D in a game with the lowest implied total we’ve seen this season. This game lacks fantasy potential. Period.
Wide Receiver/Tight End
Julio Jones (ATL) vs. MIN
This may seem nuts after his eruption last week against the Bucs. But, Xavier Rhodes and the secondary will certainly hold Julio Jones and company to a much smaller fantasy day than last week.
Dez Bryant (DAL) vs. WAS
Dak Prescott has struggled mightily ever since Ezekiel Elliott has been on suspension, and Dez has come up small repeatedly this season, most notably in the last six games where he’s failed to score or get you 75 yards. All this after his opposing matchups were supposed to be getting easier! This week, Josh Norman will be on him. I’ll pass.
Jarvis Landry (MIA) vs. DEN
Two-Chains Talib is suspended, but that only helps perimeter targets (Kenny Stills/DeVante Parker) as Chris Harris Jr is arguably better than Talib and will spend the entire game in the slot on Landry. As I mentioned above, the offenses in this game have potential to not score a TD this week. Therefore, I’m fading them.
T.Y. Hilton (IND) @ JAX
Without Andrew Luck all season, he’s been a staple of this column. He’s been bad in good matchups too, including two awful games against Tennessee. This offense is gross, and they have the misfortune of facing the Jaguars crushing pass defense this week.
