Players to Fade on FanDuel: Week 13

Players to Fade on FanDuel: Week 13

In this article, we will take a look at players who may be highly owned or overpriced and who you can feel comfortable fading. Let’s go ahead and take a look at some of the options to ignore for Week 13.

Quarterback

Matthew Stafford (NO): $7,700 at BAL
Matthew Stafford had an okay game at home on Thanksgiving Day in a tough matchup against the Vikings. This week he has another difficult matchup, but this time on the road against the Ravens. Stafford suffered an injury last Thursday but did remain in the game. If his mobility is affected at all, then he could be looking at a rough game this Sunday.

Running Back

Devonta Freeman (ATL): $6,500/Tevin Coleman (ATL): $6,500 vs. MIN
Devonta Freeman has passed the league’s concussion protocol, so it looks like he will be ready to suit up this Sunday against the Vikings. Since Tevin Coleman did excellent in Freeman’s  absence, Freeman may lose some touches from the number he was receiving prior to his concussion. Coleman’s salary has crept up over the past two weeks, so neither of these running backs are on my radar in a difficult matchup.

Mark Ingram (NO): $8,000 vs. CAR
Mark Ingram has been pretty solid this season, but Alvin Kamara has been much more electric averaging 7.7 yards per carry on 77 rushing attempts. Right now Ingram is averaging 15.1 rushing attempts per game compared to Kamara’s 7.1 per game. However, Ingram’s snap count has been trending downward since Week 6 while Kamara’s has been trending up over the past two weeks. After last week’s monster game against the Rams, I could really see Sean Payton continue this trend and allow Kamara to see more snaps and touches.

Wide Receiver

Devin Funchess (CAR): $7,500 at. NO
This fade will probably be contingent on the status of Greg Olsen, who injured his ankle in his first game back from injury. If Olsen is able to play this week, I really think we could begin to see Funchess’s targets come down a little bit. On top of that, Marcus Lattimore is expected to return for the Saints. While Lattimore is not likely to completely shadow Funchess in this matchup, Funchess will still see a good chunk of Lattimore on routes. According to Pro Football Focus, Lattimore is the fourth-highest graded cornerback in the NFL.

Sammy Watkins (LAR): $6,400 at ARI
Sammy Watkins had a solid game against the Saints with 82 yards and a touchdown on four receptions and nine targets. Robert Woods is expected to miss more games, but I cannot jump on the Watkins wagon this Sunday. Watkins is going to draw shadow coverage from Patrick Peterson, who is one of the top shadow cornerbacks in the NFL.

Tight End

Evan Engram (NYG): $6,900 at OAK
The Giants have elected to bench Eli Manning in favor of Geno Smith this Sunday as they visit the Raiders in Oakland. This will end Manning’s impressive streak of 210 consecutive games started. Even though the Raiders are terrible at defending opposing tight ends, I cannot trust Evan Engram while Smith is his quarterback. In 30 career starts while a member of the Jets, Smith only completed 58% of his passing attempts and threw 36 interceptions to his 28 touchdowns. Unless this is only a one-week experiment for the Giants, Engram could be useless for the remainder of the season.
