Players to Fade on FanDuel: Week 9

Players to Fade on FanDuel: Week 9

In this article, we will take a look at players who may be highly owned or overpriced and who you can feel comfortable fading. Let’s go ahead and take a look at some of the options to ignore for Week 9.

Quarterback

Marcus Mariota (TEN): $7,800 vs. BAL
The Titans may have won in Week 7 before their bye, but it was definitely an ugly win in Cleveland. Although they have had two weeks to figure out what went wrong on offense, I don’t like the idea of using Marcus Mariota this week against the Ravens, The Ravens have been extremely stout against the pass, only allowing nine passing touchdowns in eight games.

Running Back

Devonta Freeman (ATL): $7,100 at CAR
Devonta Freeman has struggled lately and has not found the end zone since Week 4 against the Bills. Although I am confident he will be fine for the rest of the season, I don’t feel comfortable using him this week. The Panthers have a pretty solid front seven and have allowed the third-fewest FanDuel points to opposing running backs this season.

Kareem Hunt (KC): $9,000 at DAL
Kareem Hunt has had an amazing rookie season so far in 2017. However, I think he is priced too high. At $9,000, we really need him to score at minimum 18 FanDuel points and hopefully more like 22 or 23 if we’re shooting for 2X or 2.5X his salary. Hunt has not done that since Week 3 against the Chargers, where he had a total of 183 yards and a touchdown. In fact, he has not even scored a touchdown since that game.

Wide Receiver

A.J. Green (CIN): $8,200 at JAC
A.J. Green is one of the top wide receivers in the NFL, but I am definitely fading him this week against the Jaguars. The Jaguars have been the best secondary in the NFL, with two of the top eight cornerbacks according to Pro Football Focus.

Alshon Jeffery (PHI): $6,700 vs. DEN
Although on the surface it looks like Alshon Jeffery finally had a decent game last week against the 49ers, the stat line is a little deceiving. Jeffery did almost all of his damage on one 53-yard touchdown and only had one other reception for nine yards. This week he has a difficult matchup against the Broncos secondary, which has two of the top 25 cornerbacks in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus.

Tight End

Evan Engram (NYG): $6,300 vs. LAR
I know that Evan Engram has had a really solid season thus far, but I don’t think he is deserving of having the third-highest tight end salary this week. The Rams have done very well at defending opposing tight ends allowing the sixth-fewest FanDuel points.
