Let’s take a look at notable salary changes as we head into Week 17 of the NFL season.

Quarterbacks

Jimmy Garoppolo (SF): $7,700 @ LAR (+$700)
A week ago Garoppolo held down the spot below with a $300 price drop heading into a seemingly tough matchup, but 23 FDP later Garoppolo finds himself on the rise. He could very well keep it going this week on the road against the Rams, who don’t have much to play for and could rest some key players as a result. After proving himself in a tough matchup, it’s tough not to consider Garoppolo in tournament play this week.

Marcus Mariota (TEN): $6,700 vs. JAX (-$800)
Mariota’s price plummeted after a tough 12.4 FDP outing in a loss to the Rams last week. He likely won’t find things any easier this week, although there’s a chance Jacksonville eases up off of the gas a bit as they can’t change their playoff positioning. The Titans should be extremely motivated this week, as a win gets them into the playoffs, so there’s some merit in taking a flier here at a discount in tournament play.

Running Backs

Mike Gillislee (NE): $5,600 vs. NYJ (+$1,100)
Gillislee returned to relevance of sorts last week as he scored 10.8 FDP against the Bills in his first action since late October. The Patriots have a banged up backfield and still have a lot to play for in terms of locking up home-field advantage, so I look for them to be all hands on deck this week against the Jets. I wouldn’t go too crazy here with exposure to Gillislee, but he’s still cheap enough to consider as a second back in GPP contests if a few key running backs remain out for New England.

LeSean McCoy (BUF): $8,200 @ MIA (-$400)
McCoy’s price slipped a bit despite scoring 17.2 FDP last week, which is a bit perplexing especially given the fact that Buffalo still has faint playoff hopes. The Dolphins have allowed four rushing touchdowns over their last three games and with everything on the line for the Bills, I look for a heavy workload for McCoy this week.

Wide Receivers

Chris Godwin (TB): $5,400 vs. NO (+$900)
Godwin saw the biggest price increase among all receivers heading into Week 17 as the rookie produced 11.3 FDP last week against the Panthers. He could be in line for another start this week if DeSean Jackson is unable to play and I wouldn’t mind taking a shot on him if that winds up being the case. The Saints pose a difficult challenge, but the Buccaneers could find themselves playing from behind quite a bit, which should open up plenty of targets for the talented rookie.

Mike Evans (TB): $6,900 vs. NO (-$100)
Sticking within the same game, Evans’ price sticks out like a sore thumb as it’s now dropped below $7,000. I know he has had a maddeningly inconsistent season, but he’s still somehow just 55 yards away from yet another 1,000-yard campaign. As I noted earlier, the game flow should favor the Buccaneers’ passing game quite a bit, and I expect Evans to be a prime beneficiary. He’s a very strong tournament play this week as Tampa Bay looks to play spoiler with the Saints trying to lock up the NFC South.

Tight Ends

Antonio Gates (LAC): $5,700 vs. OAK (+$1,200)
Gates’ price spiked after a 17.1 FDP outing last week which looked like a blast from the past for the veteran tight end. While he’s in the twilight of his career, he still can create space with his frame and Philip Rivers should continue looking his way. The Chargers need some help to get into the playoffs, but I look for Gates to do his part in trying to help the team sneak into the postseason.

Vernon Davis (WAS): $5,800 @ NYG (-$200)
Davis scored 11.2 FDP last week and yet his price slipped below $6,000 heading into a plus matchup against the Giants who have been burned by tight ends often this season. There isn’t anything to play for on either side, but this is still a divisional game and Davis doesn’t have much competition for looks at the position. He’s an appealing tournament option this week and one that could go a bit overlooked.
