FanDuel NBA Value Plays: Monday (12/11)

Welcome back to Monday’s edition of FanDuel value plays. A little bit of a shorter slate tonight with only six games so finding that value at certain positions can be difficult. Keep in mind these value plays will all fall below the $5,500 price tag and give you a chance to stack up on the superstars tonight with the likes of James Harden, Russ Westbrook, Anthony Davis, Boogie Cousins and Kevin Durant all in action.

Point guard and shooting guard are particularly low on value tonight so it may be ideal to roll out a couple of the aforementioned stars into your lineup in those positions. Value plays listed below are the ones that provide an opportunity to hit at least 5 times their cost, which can propel you into the prize money. As always, good luck!

Point Guard

Tyler Johnson (MIA): $4,600 @ MEM
While the matchup on paper going against a top-ranked defense that ranks sixth against point guards doesn’t seem enticing, Tyler Johnson is playing well at the moment. He’s now strung together three straight games of 20+ points in FanDuel. With this game being on the road it should also be noted he’s posted at least 25+ FanDuel points in his last three road games playing at least 26 minutes each game. Johnson is the Heat’s first scoring option off the bench which is evidenced by his usage rate which is sixth best on the team according to NBA.com. He averages 27 minutes per game and 10 points this season. While he can’t be counted on for much more than scoring, sometimes you just have to let it ride when a guy is shooting well. Johnson has scored in double-figures in five consecutive games and has shot over 70 percent in three of the past four games. It won’t last forever, but it may just be worth a shot tonight.

Shooting Guard

E’Twaun Moore (NOR): $4,600 @ HOU
In a game that sports the highest over/under according to the Westgate sportsbook at 226 points, it sure makes sense to try to get a piece of that pie. E’Twaun Moore provides an opportunity to grab some of that at a value price. Valued at $4,600 Moore will need at least 23 FanDuel points to hit value tonight, which he’s done in two of the past four. He’s gone four straight games hitting 20+ FanDuel points while seeing an impressive 30+ minutes of action in six straight games. Moore provides a chance to get a player at a good value in the night’s highest predicted scoring game. It also helps Houston ranks just 23rd in defending shooting guards.

Small Forward

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (CHA): $4,900 @ OKC
While Michael Kidd-Gilchrist won’t typically blow you away with his numbers he does offer a pretty nice floor for a player who cost $4,900 on FanDuel. He has a decent matchup tonight against an Oklahoma City team that likes to get up and down the floor and ranks 11th in defense against small forwards. The pure pace of this game should provide more opportunity for Kidd-Gilchrist to produce. He’s finished with 20+ FanDuel points in four of the past five games and has logged at least 25 minutes in six straight. Those two stats provide a nice mix of volume and opportunity for him tonight. Kidd-Gilchrist is a good rebounder so he always has upside to supplement his scoring with rebounding which increases his value. Look for Kidd-Gilchrist to meet his value and exceed 24 FanDuel points tonight.

Trevor Ariza (HOU): $5,400 vs. NOR
Trevor Ariza barely fit in as a value coming in just under the limit at $5,400. Playing as the starting small forward for a high-powered Houston offense definitely lifts his appeal and offers another chance to get a player at a good value playing in potentially the highest scoring game of the night. New Orleans does rank ninth against small forwards, but don’t let this ranking deter you. Ariza has finished in double-figures in six of the last seven games leading to 20+ FanDuel points five times in that stretch. In addition to that he’s logged at least 26 minutes in every game he’s played this season. In a fast-paced, high-scoring game Ariza should see some nice point totals and he also offers potential for six or more rebounds on any given night.

Power Forward

Serge Ibaka (TOR): $5,500 @ LAC
In one of my few locks tonight, Serge Ibaka seems primed to hit his value in a matchup with the Clippers minus Blake Griffin. Ibaka has been playing very well of late as he’s put together three straight games of 29+ FanDuel points and 10 straight games with 20+. His value sits at 27.5, which he’s hit in four straight games, and this should be helped by going against a team that ranks 12th against power forwards and missing their stud at the position. Playing in a game with an over/under of 214 according to Westgate sports book there will be plenty of opportunity for Ibaka to produce, especially since he’s logged 25+ minutes in five straight.

Ryan Anderson (HOU): $4,000 vs. NOR
Ryan Anderson is a bit of a risky play tonight but is certainly a player that can fill it up any given night. More of a boom or bust, he can get you 35 FanDuel points, or he could get you two. I’m listing Anderson here purely for the matchup, playing in a fast-paced game with lots of points to be had. He’ll need just 20 points to hit value and he accomplished that feat in two of his past three home games. He’s averaging 12 points and five rebounds on the season so it’d be reasonable to expect him to achieve those types of numbers in a plus matchup at home, especially against a Pelicans team that ranks just 20th against opposing power forwards. Anderson is a solid play at his $4,000 and would allow you to spend up at other positions.

Center

Aron Baynes (BOS): $3,500 at CHI
All signs point to Aron Baynes starting again tonight in the absence of Marcus Morris. If this does hold to be true then Baynes is an absolute bargain at the $3,500 minimum price tag. Going against a Chicago team that spreads the floor and lacks a strong inside rebounder, Baynes could find room in the post for plenty of put-back opportunities and rebounding totals. It shouldn’t be a problem for Baynes to reach the 17 FanDuel points he’d need to get his value. Last game he started was against the Pistons, a game in which he grabbed 13 rebounds in 26 minutes resulting in 23 FanDuel points. He’s a strong-willed rebounder who shouldn’t find much competition inside tonight, look for him to get his value.
