FanDuel NFL Lineup Advice: Week 14 (Mini Slate)

FanDuel NFL Lineup Advice: Week 14 (Mini Slate)

If you followed my article last week you were likely just as disappointed as I was. Mike Evans and Jared Cook both laid an egg in two outstanding spots, but sometimes that is just the nature of the beast in DFS. The good news is that we get to jump right back on the saddle with an exciting slate of games this weekend. Let’s go ahead and take a look at a FanDuel Mini lineup for Week 14.

Quarterback

Blaine Gabbert (ARI): $8,000 at TEN
I will be going the cheap route at quarterback this week so that I can spend up almost everywhere else in my mini lineup. Gabbert did not have a good game against the Rams last week throwing for only 221 yards and one touchdown. However, he did look serviceable the two previous weeks throwing for a total of 498 yards and five touchdowns. He should be able to return value this week against the Titans, who are only mediocre against the pass this season.

Running Back

Le’Veon Bell (PIT): $14,500 vs. PIT
Le’Veon Bell had a pretty Le’Veon Bell type of night this past Monday against the Bengals. Bell scored a touchdown and gained a total of 182 yards on 18 rushes and five receptions. Bell should not have many issues with the Ravens, who are middle of the pack against the run this season.

Todd Gurley (LAR): $13,500 vs. PHI
I really had a hard time deciding between going with two top-dollar running backs or two top-dollar wide receivers, but I ultimately went with the former. Both Bell and Gurley have been two of the best players at their respective positions this season, and generally there is a lot less variance at the running back position from week to week. The matchup for Gurley is not great, but the volume is going to be there so he still should be a safe option for cash games.

Wide Receiver

Antonio Brown (PIT): $14,500 vs. BAL
Antonio Brown’s status this past Monday night was up in the air until about an hour before kickoff when it was announced he would play on his injured toe. Despite the injury and the difficult matchup, Brown still went for 101 yards and a touchdown on 15 targets and eight receptions. Initially, this matchup with the Ravens may look like another difficult one. However, the Ravens best cornerback, Jimmy Smith, is in the middle of serving a four-game suspension for PEDs. Instead, Brown will see a lot of the Ravens’ rookie cornerback, Marlon Humphrey, which is a far superior matchup.

Josh Gordon (CLE): $9,000 vs. GB
Another reason why I decided to spend up on two high-priced running backs is that we can roster an elite wide receiver at an incredibly cheap price. Last week Josh Gordon played in his first game since 2014 and it didn’t take long for him to show that he is still a great receiver. Gordon ran almost all of his routes against two of the top eight cornerbacks according to Pro Football Focus, and he still had 85 yards on four receptions and 11 targets. This week he has a much easier matchup against an awful Packer’s secondary, and the Browns will once again likely have to be throwing a lot late in the game while they are playing from behind.
