Players to Avoid on DRAFT: Week 15

Players to Avoid on DRAFT: Week 15

Week 15 is upon us with a full 16 games spread over five days of fantasy goodness, starting with the Thursday game. Okay, so not a lot of fantasy goodness there, but…there are 15 other games, including a pair of Saturday games to go along with the usual Sunday-Monday action. If you’ve been eliminated from your season-long leagues, or struggling to survive on other DFS sites, give the DRAFT app a try! I’ll take you through a short list of players that could end up tanking your squad on this slate. Ready? Let’s go!

Quarterback

Drew Brees (NO) vs. NYJ
It’s tough to put Brees here, but he’s produced just one game (Week 3) with three passing TDs this year. The Jets are giving up just a 53% completion percentage since their BYE, and there aren’t many avenues for him to go off if the Saints are pounding the rock with that dynamic backfield duo. The potential lack of volume is concerning considering the Saints could likely employ a run-heavy game script in what could be a blowout.

Jared Goff (LAR) @ SEA
Even though the Seattle secondary has been ravaged by injuries, it’s still a tough matchup in arguably the toughest stadium in the NFL. Goff has been awesome since the Rams BYE, sporting a 13:2 TD:INT ratio, however, I expect that to come to an end this week. A strong indicator is the Week 5 meeting between these two teams where Goff set a season high in pass attempts (47) and a season-low for QBR (48.9).

Running Back

Carlos Hyde (SF) @ TEN
The Titans have allowed less than 90 yards per game this season, and they’re getting better with game. I don’t expect the 49ers to get into much of a rhythm on the ground as a result. If Tennessee can limit Le’Veon Bell to 46 yards on the ground, I expect Hyde to have a similar result as San Fran works more passing plays into the offense.

Jamaal Williams (GB) @ CAR
He has a tough matchup against a Panthers front seven that has also allowed less than 90 yards per game this season, I don’t expect Williams to get a full workload as Aaron Jones gets healthy. The return of Aaron Rodgers should also shift the Packers offensive attack back to a more aggressive approach.

Joe Mixon (CIN) @ MIN
Mixon should return to his starting role after missing last week. Unfortunately for him, he returns to face a Vikings D that has held opponents to less then 89 rush yards per game this season. The Bengals have “mailed it in.” Their O-Line is also the worst in the NFL, and the struggle will be real for him to get anything going against Minnesota.

Wide Reciever/Tight End

A.J. Green (CIN) @ MIN
Green has seen a lot of targets recently, but sadly hasn’t done much with them. Again, the Bengals have an absolutely pitiful offense and he has the misfortune of drawing Xavier Rhodes and the Vikings top-5 passing defense this week. Rhodes will be shadowing Green for the entire game, and I expect the catch rate to be below 50% once again this week.

Mike Evans (TB) @ ATL
Evans only hauled in half of his targets last time these two teams played and Marcus Trufant should be back for the Falcons. Evans hasn’t scored since Week 7 and that’s without a BYE week. I can’t endorse using one of your first four picks on him this week on DRAFT. Perhaps a last-round flyer, but that’s only if you feel like he’s due, which is a bold move.

Alshon Jeffrey (PHI) @ NYG
The Eagles turn to Nick Foles (again), and Zach Ertz is expected back. Those factors negatively impact all Philly WR’s target market share, and the Giants held him in check in their last meeting as well. New York bleeds points to backs and tight ends, and I fully expect the Eagles to exploit that with an expanded run game and a lot of Ertz in a low-scoring game.

Hunter Henry (LAC) @ KC
Henry did absolutely nothing when he played the Chiefs in Week 3 when their secondary was already without the services of Eric Berry. The Chargers still hadn’t fully committed to Henry yet, but a zero is brutal regardless. Because of that, and the Chiefs weak perimeter coverage, I’m fading him and targeting Keenan Allen instead.
