Quarterback Streaming Options
QB Stream of the Week: Jimmy Garoppolo (SF) vs. Tennessee (24% owned in ESPN leagues)
Jimmy G is at home against a pass-funnel Titans defensive unit. He’s eclipsed 290 yards in each of his two starts and is putting together impressive film to go along with the big numbers. At 3-10, the 49ers are actually favored by Vegas over the 8-5 AFC Wild Card leaders. This week will be remembered as the coming out party for San Francisco’s next franchise QB.
Blake Bortles (JAX) vs. Houston (20% owned in ESPN leagues)
Bortles has eclipsed 20 standard fantasy points in each of his last three games and now faces a Houston Texans defense that has given up the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing QBs. Houston is stout against the run, too, so Bortles will probably need to throw for a score or two if he’s to win this game. Don’t look now, but Bortles’ cumulative QBR is now higher than Roethlisberger’s, Manning’s, and Flacco’s in the years when they won their Super Bowls. The coaching staff has done a great job of simplifying the game plan and keeping things in front of Bortles.
Joe Flacco (BAL) @ Cleveland (7% owned in ESPN leagues)
The Ravens offense is heating up (finally), and they’re in another good spot against the third-worst passing defense in the league this week. If you lost Carson Wentz and all the other quarterbacks are taken, fear not, and take another safe-floor week from Joe Flacco.
Tight End Streaming Options
TE Stream of the Week: Charles Clay (BUF) vs Miami (40% owned in ESPN leagues)
Charles Clay flopped predictably in the snow globe game last week against Indianapolis. He’s in a great spot this week against a Miami defense who’s surrendered the fifth-most points to the tight end position this year. With Kelvin Benjamin ailing, and the Dolphins offense finding its rhythm, Buffalo will need to lean on Clay this week.
Vernon Davis (WAS) vs Arizona (57% owned in ESPN leagues)
It’s baffling that Vernon Davis is still available in over 40% of leagues. Arizona is middle of the pack against tight ends, but Davis is integral enough to his offense to be a factor any given Sunday. If you are needy, he is a fine plug-and-play this week.
David Njoku (CLE) @ Baltimore (10% owned in ESPN leagues)
Njoku has two consecutive weeks over seven standard fantasy points, and his snap rate and usage are consistently higher than it was just a month ago. Baltimore is bottom-third in the league against tight ends. This is as good a week as any to roll him out.
Benjamin Watson (BAL) @ Cleveland (12% owned in ESPN leagues)
Benjamin Watson was shut out last week against the Steelers in a high-scoring game. This week’s matchup against Cleveland (bottom five in the league against tight ends) is a perfect get-right spot for him.
