FanDuel NHL Lineup Advice: Thursday (2/15)

FanDuel NHL Lineup Advice: Thursday (2/15)

We have a massive 11-game slate tonight, where we have two games which have over-unders set at 6.5 goals. That is super high for the NHL, so we want to look there for plenty of scoring.

Center

Mathew Barzal (NYI): $6,400 vs. NYR
Barzal is on the first power-play unit and the second forward line, which is where this Islanders stack is going to be focused. The Islanders are one of the best scoring teams in the league, so anytime they are on the slate, you generally want some type of exposure to them. They are up against the Rangers, who are giving up over three goals per game and are having some serious struggles on defense this year. This puts Barzal and the Islanders in a good spot to rack up plenty of points, considering this game has an over-under set at 6.5 goals.

William Karlsson (VGK): $7,100 vs. EDM
Vegas is a -195 favorite at home and are facing off against an Edmonton team who is giving up about three goals per game. The Golden Knights have the highest expected Corsi on the slate sitting at 48, meaning they are projected to be taking a ton of shots. They also have an expected goal total at 3.8, which is very high for the NHL, putting Karlsson in a great spot. He is on the first forward line and the first power-play unit.

Wing

Jordan Eberle (NYI): $5,700 vs. NYR
Eberle has two points over his last three games and is the next part of the Islanders stack we are looking at tonight. He is taking over two shots per game and chips in with a blocked shot every now and then. He also sees time on the second power-play unit. This stack should be good for either format tonight since we are in for a high-scoring game.

Anthony Beauvillier (NYI): $4,400 vs. NYR
Beauvillier isn’t the most consistent player right now, as he only has two points over his last eight games, but he still has nice upside in this matchup. Also on the second forward line and second power-play unit, the potential is there, he just needs to get out of this slump. He has eight shots over his past two games, so the scoring chances are there.

Jonathan Marchessault (VGK): $7,400 vs. EDM
Marchessault has six points in his last five games and is also on the first forward line and first power-play unit. We have plenty of correlation between these Vegas players, who are in a good spot against this weak Oilers team. He is taking well over three shots per game and sees around 20 minutes of ice time per game.

Reilly Smith (VGK): $6,200 vs. EDM
Smith is the last member of this Vegas stack who is coming off a very strong game. He only had one goal, but he took seven shots in that game for a total of 24.8 fantasy points. He won’t be taking seven shots every game, but this was the second time in his last five games he took seven or more. If they are funneling him shots, this is the time to jump on him before his price jumps more.

Defense

Justin Faulk (CAR): $5,100 @ NJ
Faulk is coming off a massive game where he put up a hat trick against the Kings. That level of production won’t happen every night, but we know that the Hurricanes love to take a ton of shots, and Faulk is taking over three per game. He is also seeing time on the first power-play unit.

Adam Pelech (NYI): $3,500 vs. NYR
Pelech is on the third defensive pairing and isn’t on the power-play, so you could consider him a bit of a punt play. He still sees about 20 minutes of ice time per game, so the potential is there. He takes about 1.5 shots per game and is blocking about two shots per game, so there is some value here.

Goalie

Pekka Rinne (NSH): $8,800 vs. CGY
Rinne is a -200 home favorite tonight and is in a great spot to pick up the win. He has 10 wins in his last 11 starts, a hot hand in net who you want to ride to the cash. He is up against the Flames, who will be rolling out a backup goalie, so Nashville’s offense should be able to help him pick up the win.
