FanDuel NHL Value Plays: Tuesday (3/6)

This Tuesday night brings us a nine-game NHL slate with a lot of projected offense. There are plenty of high-priced players worth looking at, so picking the right value options will be key. Fortunately, there are a lot of great low-priced forwards on the board in great situations. Let’s take a look at a few favorites.

Center

Bryan Little (WPG): $4,900 @ NJ
The Winnipeg Jets have made a statement to the NHL showcasing how serious they are in contending for the Stanley Cup this season. Adding depth at the deadline, the Jets are looking like one of the teams to beat as the postseason approaches. Little has been a consistent contributor all year long and will continue to help lead the talented Winnipeg team. Playing on both the second forward line and power-play unit, Little and the Jets will look to feast on the New York Rangers. Although they went 3-0 on a three-game western road trip, the Rangers have sold off all of their top assets and are a shell of the team they once were. Vegas has set Winnipeg as a -150 road favorite in a game which should see scoring.

Wing

Jake DeBrusk (BOS): $4,700 vs. DET
The arrival of Rick Nash has benefited rookie Jake DeBrusk in a big way over the last three games. In those games, DeBrusk has scored one goal and three assists. While Nash is the clear finisher on the second forward line, DeBrusk is proving to be a great playmaker early in his career. Playing at home against a weak Detroit Red Wings team is a great combination for a successful night. Continue rolling with the hot hand of the second forward line from the Boston Bruins tonight.

Thomas Vanek (CLS): $4,800 vs. VGK
Thomas Vanek was one of the players dealt on trade deadline day a week ago. He was fortunate enough to leave the bottom-dwelling Canucks for a playoff-contending Blue Jackets team. After playing three games with Columbus, Vanek is now slotted in on the second forward line and top power-play unit. The veteran winger still flashes elite skill and will be put in great situations to help the Blue Jackets score. At home, Columbus is much better and are fighting to hold on to the last Eastern Conference wild-card spot.

Defense

Tyler Myers (WPG): $4,600 @ NYR
Quarterbacking the second power-play unit adds to the big minutes Tyler Myers will already be in line for tonight. Teammate Jacob Trouba is still on the injured reserve, opening extra ice time for Myers. In a game being played at a fast pace, the Jets will look to keep up with the quick Rangers at MSG. Generally speaking, high-tempo hockey games lead to turnovers, scoring chances, and ultimately, goals scored. This game should be heavily considered during lineup construction.

Goalie

Cory Schneider (NJ): $8,000 vs. MON
Since returning from injury, the Devils starting netminder has lost three consecutive games. Most recently allowing three goals on 27 shots while facing the Golden Knights. That being said, tonight is the night Schneider notches a win. At home, the Devils are a -165 favorite. Montreal will once again be without superstar Carey Price between the pipes. Devils left-winger Taylor Hall is on a 25-game point streak. Playoffs are around the corner and New Jersey needs every win possible the rest of the season, while the Canadiens are counting down the days to hit the links. Without having to pay way up for a goalie tonight, Schneider offers salary relief with a safe floor.
