NBA FanDuel Lineup Advice: Saturday (3/3)

Welcome to NBA FanDuel Saturday! It’s a rather messy slate to sift through early with a whole bunch of games and a whole bunch of questionable tags to go along with it. The Grizzlies are the main culprit with Marc Gasol being rested and just about the rest of the roster being listed as questionable.

As for the high-priced guys, LeBron James, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook lead the way per usual with LeBron being the only player above $12,000. There’s a clear-cut favorite in my mind among those three. Let’s take a look:

Point Guards

Mario Chalmers (MEM): $3,500 @ ORL

It’s anybody’s guess as to who’s going to play for the tanking Grizzlies on a back-to-back in Orlando. We do know Marc
Gasol will sit, but Andrew Harrison, Tyreke Evans, and JaMychal Green are among a collection of Grizzlies considered questionable. Fortunately, we will know who plays before lock as the Griz play the earliest game on the slate. I’m going to assume both Evans and Harrison end up sitting out which will make Chalmers about as must-play as it gets. If either one suits up, consider other options.

Damian Lillard (POR): $9,700 v. OKC

Damian Lillard’s price is still below $10,000 despite shredding value in the upper-9Ks on a rather consistent basis. Lillard is averaging 55 in his last two priced at $9,700 so continue to ride him until he reaches five digits in what is poised to be an up-tempo game against the Thunder.

Shooting Guards

Dwyane Wade (MIA): $4,800 v. DET

Dwyane Wade is hot, and the Pistons are not. With back-to-back, 30+ point games, Wade probably has one more good one before he reaches $5,000. Wayne Ellington and Tyler Johnson remain doubtful for this one.

James Harden (HOU): $11,200 v. BOS

With LeBron overpriced and Westbrook coming off a monster on no rest, Harden is the premier play among the high-priced studs. This has all the makings of a revenge game as the Rockets collapsed in Boston earlier this season which culminated with Marcus Smart drawing two offensive fouls on James Harden at the end of the game. Don’t think Harden has forgotten that. Expect a monster.

Small Forwards

Rudy Gay (SAS): $4,800 v. LAL

Rudy Gay made his presence felt with LaMarcus Aldridge leaving last game early as Gay went for 41 FanDuel points out of nowhere. Aldridge will remain out which means that there will be plenty of opportunity to build on that with a good matchup against the Lakers on deck. The Spurs are desperate for scoring without Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard so look for Rudy and Dejounte Murray to take the reins on that task.

Joe Ingles (UTA): $6,200 @ SAC

Ingles has been popping off pretty regularly over the last month with some clunkers mixed in. This is more of a default “he just fits” type of play, but the Kings seem to be the type of team inept enough to leave one of the league’s top three-point shooters wide open beyond the arc for no reason.

Power Forwards

Paul Millsap (DEN): $5,900 @ CLE

Paul Millsap has marked his re-arrival to the Nuggets after an extended absence with a 37.9 point game against the Grizzlies last night. He shouldn’t have an issue with the hapless Cavs defense, even on a back-to-back. Fire him up with confidence until he’s outpriced.

Zach Randolph (SAC): $6,100 v. UTA

Willie Cauley-Stein is doubtful with a lower back strain, and even though Randolph himself is considered questionable due to whatever it is the Kings do with resting their veterans, expect him to be in there after sitting last game. Randolph has routinely gone off in games in which WCS has sat including 32.4 points and 42.4 points in the two most recent games in late January. I prefer him as a play over Kosta Koufos who would need to occupy the valuable center position.

Center

Hassan Whiteside (MIA): $7,400 v. DET

The Heat were embarrassed at home by the Lakers last game, and Hassan Whiteside contributed to that with a 12-point clunker. Expect a much better effort against a Pistons team that has been dreadful defensively, especially against frontcourt players. The $7,400 price tag is more than generous for a player that went for 48 points just two games ago.

That’s it for Saturday. Best of luck.
