FanDuel MLB Value Plays: Tuesday (4/24)

FanDuel MLB Value Plays: Tuesday (4/24)

Tuesday brings us a relatively unusual slate set-up with four late afternoon games followed by an 11-game main slate. I will be offering advice on the main slate, although FanDuel does have an all-day option for the late afternoon games.

It’s worth noting that there is a game being played at Coors Field again tonight, and the majority of the east coast will be dealing with inclement weather. As always, be sure to pay close attention to the lineups when they are released and monitor the weather leading up to game time. For reference throughout the season, be sure to bookmark our overview of MLB Park Factors and how to Use Weather to Your Advantage in MLB DFS. Pitcher

Rick Porcello (BOS): $8,800 @ TOR

I’m not even sure if you could classify a former Cy Young winner as a ‘value play’, but this price point seems like an absolute steal given how well Porcello has performed this season. He will carry a 3.34 xFIP and a 23-1 K/BB ratio into Toronto to face a lineup that has struggled to hit right-handed pitching last season. But my inclination to play Porcello is based more on his recent form rather than the matchup against Toronto. He has looked excellent to start the 2018 season.

Hitters

Ryan Zimmerman (1B – WAS) – $2,900 @ SF

Zimmerman will face off against lefty Ty Blach, who has been pretty atrocious to start the 2018 campaign. He sports a 4.52xFIP but has really struggled to find the strike zone. He almost has as many walks as he does strike-outs, which is a recipe for disaster when facing a highly potent Nationals offense. Zimmerman has historically performed well against left-handers too, with an elite .425 wOBA last season against southpaws. Great value for someone under $3K.

Kike Hernandez (3B – LAD): $2,500 vs. MIA

Hernandez hits lefties very well and with power too (.311 ISO vs LHP), making him a borderline must-play on FanDuel against Miami’s Dillon Peters. Peters has been wildly inconsistent on the mound to start 2018 despite performing relatively well in Spring Training. He has struggled most with command (5.12 BB/9), which is not something you want against a powerful Dodgers lineup.

Corey Seager (SS – LAD): $3,500 vs. MIA

I have always been a big believer in Seager’s talent so I will be loading up on him at this price. He has struggled to start the season but is slowly rounding back into form (.350 BA in the last seven days). He is rocking a .273 BABIP but striking out a career-low 15%, so there will likely be some positive regression in his near future. No better matchup to get back on track with than Dillon Peters, who has given up 15 earned runs in his last three starts while giving up a boatload of hard contact as well.

Matt Kemp (OF – LAD): $2,600 vs. MIA

Another left-handed bat facing off against Peters, I like Kemp because of his historical success against left-handed pitching. He has a .398xWOBA against lefties. If you haven’t figured it out by now, I love the Dodgers stack on today’s slate.

Wil Myers (OF – SD): $3,400 @ COL

Myers will likely be owned by a lot of users tonight, but a talent like Myers at this price-point playing in Coors Field is too much to pass up. He’s coming off a four-hit effort last night and has eight hits in his last 14 at-bats since rejoining the Padres. There is a dramatic price-difference on FanDuel compared to DraftKings, as he is $1,400 cheaper on the former site compared to the latter.
