FanDuel NHL Value Plays: Tuesday (4/3)

Apr 3, 2018

Now in the home-stretch of the season, there are just a few games remaining before the postseason begins. Tonight, the NHL has nine games scheduled. There are a couple of teams in must-win situations and others looking to play spoiler. With the multiple high-priced offensive players available tonight, the value options will prove to be just as important. Let’s take a look at some of the top value plays on tonight’s NHL slate.

Nolan Patrick (PHI): $4,300 @ NYI
The New York Islanders have been a team to target all season. They have allowed the most goals against and have seemingly “checked out” of 2018. The Flyers are looking to sure up their number seven seed in the Eastern conference and go into the playoffs on a roll. The rookie center, Nolan Patrick, has had a successful season and gained the team’s confidence as the everyday second-line center. Playing alongside Jakub Voracek gives Patrick the high fantasy point upside for a multi-point game.

Kevin Fiala (NSH): $4,300 @ FLA
Although the second forward line for the Nashville Predators has been shaken up, Fiala remains a great value option tonight. With Aleksander Barkov line-matched against the Preds top line, Fiala and the second forward line will see the much weaker Vincent Trocheck line. This will lead to more offensive opportunities and production. Fiala will also log time on the second power-play unit against a very undisciplined team.

Joonas Donskoi (SJ): $4,300 vs. DAL
The San Jose Sharks clinched a postseason berth last night and will now host the Dallas Stars. Although regarded as a fairly defensive team, the Stars have struggled all season on the road. The Sharks will look for another win at home before rolling into the playoffs. Joonas Donskoi is a great bargain price at $4,300 who will skate on the top forward line. Skating with Joe Pavelski and Evander Kane will provide a lot of great scoring chances for the right-winger in a game the Sharks should dominate.

Jeff Petry (MON): $4,400 vs. WPG
The Winnipeg Jets travel to Montreal to take on the Canadiens. Ever since captain Shea Weber was sidelined with an injury, Jeff Petry has been thrust into the number one defenseman role on the team. Averaging well over 20 minutes a night, Petry also quarterbacks the top power-play unit for the Canadiens. The veteran D-man contributes fantasy points across all facets of the game and is a great cash-game play with GPP-winning upside.

Juuse Saros (NSH): $8,000 @ FLA
The Nashville Predators are the best team in the NHL. They have lost just 17 games all season long (in regulation) and sit at the top of the NHL in overall standings. Now they travel to Florida to take on a Panthers team who will likely miss out on the postseason. Juuse Saros has been an exceptional backup netminder for the Predators this season, posting a 2.41 GAA, .926%, to go along with three shutouts in 24 games played. The Panthers will fire a lot of shots which should provide a high fantasy floor. As a -130 favorite, the Preds should win this game on the road, and Saros is a great salary-saving netminder.
