DRAFT MLB Lineup Advice: Friday (5/25)

The SF/CHC matchup is at 2:20 pm (EST), so the 15-game slate is still an option on DRAFT. However, they also oblige the large 14-game ticket (7:05 pm EST) and the smaller three-game slate (9:35 pm EST) on Friday.

We welcome back Coors Field into the DFS schedule. Vegas has deemed the CIN/COL matchup worthy of the largest over/under with 11 total runs. Four other games have over/unders of at least nine total runs.

This article is posted well before lineups are released by the managers. If you have a question, feel free to reach me on Twitter @CharlieSideHstl.

Pitchers

1. Max Scherzer, WSH (@ MIA)

2. Corey Kluber, CLE (vs. HOU)

3. Noah Syndergaard, NYM (@ MIL)

4. Luis Severino, NYY (vs. LAA)

5. James Paxton, SEA (vs. MIN)

6. Sean Manaea, OAK (vs. ARI)

7. Junior Guerra, MIL (vs. NYM)

8. Kyle Hendricks, CHC (vs. SF)

9. Patrick Corbin, ARI (@ OAK)

10. Ross Stripling, LAD (vs. SD)

There are some powerhouse arms on the hill for Friday’s full slate. No need to spend a top pick on a pitcher for this ticket. Scherzer, Kluber, Syndergaard, and Severino are in the top tier. After that group, I give the nod to Paxton. He’s struck out at least seven batters in four of the past five starts. He’s also allowed two earned runs, or less, in the same span. Vegas has the Mariners as strong favorites (-170) in a game with a low over/under (seven total runs)

The pitch count is never high for Stripling, but he threw 96 pitches (season-high) in his last outing. Stripling has struck out at least seven batters in back-to-back appearances and has allowed only three earned runs in the last 16.1 innings of work.

Infielders

1. Nolan Arenado, COL (vs. CIN)

2. Kris Bryant, CHC (vs. SF)

3. Jose Ramirez, CLE (vs. HOU)

4. J.D. Martinez, BOS (vs. ATL)

5. Freddie Freeman, ATL (@ BOS)

6. Manny Machado, BAL (@ TB)

7. Francisco Lindor, CLE (vs. HOU)

8. Giancarlo Stanton, NYY (vs. LAA)

9. Scooter Gennett, CIN (@ COL)

10. Joey Votto, CIN (@ COL)

11. Trea Turner, WSH (@ MIA)

12. Eugenio Suarez, CIN (@ COL)

13. Trevor Story, COL (vs. CIN)

14. Ozzie Albies, ATL (@ BOS)

15. Jean Segura, SEA (vs. MIN)

16. Gleyber Torres, NYY (vs. LAA)

17. Didi Gregorius, NYY (vs. LAA)

18. Cesar Hernandez, PHI (vs. TOR)

19. Whit Merrifield, KC (@ TEX)

20. Xander Bogaerts, BOS (vs. ATL)

No surprise, we have baseball returning to Colorado and a Rockie (or is it “Rocky?”) tops our infielder rankings. This season, Arenado is batting .391 at home, with two doubles, two triples, and three home runs (nine walks). In the past week, Arenado is 9-for-28 (.321) with one double and four walks.

When constructing a DRAFT lineup, players who bat towards the top of their batting order are typically chosen. However, I’m putting a nine-hole hitter in these rankings for Friday. Torres has homered four times in the past three days. In the past week, he’s notched seven hits. Five were homers. For the month of May, Torres has tallied 20 hits and 20 RBI (eight home runs).

Outfielders

1. Charlie Blackmon, COL (vs. CIN)

2. Mookie Betts, BOS (vs. ATL)

3. Bryce Harper, WSH (@ MIA)

4. Mike Trout, LAA (@ NYY)

5. Aaron Judge, NYY (vs. LAA)

6. Andrew Benintendi, BOS (vs. ATL)

7. Michael Brantley, CLE (vs. HOU)

8. Scott Schebler, CIN (@ COL)

9. Tommy Pham, STL (@ PIT)

10. Nick Markakis, ATL (@ BOS)

11. David Dahl, COL (vs. CIN)

12. Gregory Polanco, PIT (vs. STL)

13. Odubel Herrera, PHI (vs. TOR)

14. Nomar Mazara, TEX (vs. KC)

15. Adam Duvall, CIN (@ COL)

16. Joey Gallo, TEX (vs. KC)

17. Tyler O’Neill, STL (@ PIT)

18. Kyle Schwarber, CHC (vs. SF)

19. Rhys Hoskins, PHI (vs. TOR)

20. Curtis Granderson, TOR (@ PHI)

Betts is bumped by Blackmon (say that 10 times fast) for the No. 1 outfielder for Friday. In a game with the highest over/under, Blackmon leads the Rockies with a .290 ISO against right-handed pitchers. Cincinnati’s Sal Romano could be in for a long night as he’s allowed at least six earned runs in back-to-back outings and now must pitch in Coors Field.

One batter who may fly under the radar in a full Friday slate is Markakis. He’s batting a remarkable .417 (10-for-24) with one double in the past week. In May, Markakis has a .395 AVG with five doubles and three home runs (14 RBI).
