Wednesday’s DraftKings Lineup Advice column will focus on the seven-game evening slate. The slate is a little iffy when it comes to safe starting pitcher options with some of the higher-priced pitchers facing good offenses and each other with the Red Sox/Yankees and Diamondbacks/Dodgers. On the hitting side, it is a great night to fire up some suited connectors (mini two-man stacks) with four teams that are drawing my attention.
As always, be sure to pay close attention to the lineups when they are released and monitor the weather leading up to game time. Pitchers
Gio Gonzalez (WAS): $11,400 @ SD
The only high-priced pitching option that isn’t doing battle with another high-priced pitcher and a good offense is Gio Gonzalez who will face the Padres in San Diego. The Padres have struck out 25.8% of the time against lefties this season while Gonzalez has posted a 25.0% strikeout rate over his first seven starts. While I wouldn’t consider Gonzalez a lock for a good outing, I have some concerns with Patrick Corbin’s velocity which dropped three miles per hour in his last start and Masahiro Tanaka and Rick Porcello squaring off against each other and two elite offenses. So, by process of elimination, Gonzalez leads the list.
