DRAFT MLB Lineup Advice: Wednesday (6/20)

DRAFT MLB Lineup Advice: Wednesday (6/20)

There are 14 games taking place on Wednesday and DRAFT provided three different sets of time slots to play: 14 games (12:35 pm start), nine games (3:40 pm start), and seven games (7:05 pm start). Five games have over/unders of at least nine total runs, with NYM/COL leading the way with 11.5 total runs. On Tuesday, they combined for 18 runs and 14 runs on Monday.

As for the pitching portion of the lineup, there are three teams who are deemed as heavy favorites (-200 or greater): Washington, Houston, and Cleveland. All three will be reflected in our starting pitcher rankings with two of them topping the list.

This article is posted well before lineups are released by the managers. If you have a question, feel free to reach me on Twitter @CharlieSideHstl.

4. Jon Lester, CHC (vs. LAD)

5. J.A. Happ, TOR (vs. ATL)

6. Derek Holland, SF (vs. MIA)

10. Michael Wacha, STL (@ PHI)

It was a rare, rough outing for the Klubot in his last start: 5 IP, 4 ER, and 3 K in only 65 pitches. Kluber will look to rebound against the White Sox, a team in which he already faced on May 30th: 6 IP, 0 ER, and 10 K. Kluber has allowed two earned runs, or less, in six of the past seven performances. The White Sox are 26th in runs scored this season (267 runs in 69 games) and fifth in team strikeouts (672).

We should see a pitcher’s duel in Wrigley when Stripling and Lester square off. Vegas gives the edge to the Cubbies (-110), but I like Stripling more in this matchup. Stripling has allowed two earned runs, or less, in nine straight starts and has notched at least six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. On the other hand, Lester is 3-1 with a 1.49 ERA in six starts at home this season. So, I can’t fault you for taking Lester over Stripling.

18. Kris Bryant, CHC (vs. LAD)

19. Didi Gregorius, NYY (vs. SEA)

Colorado is tied for the slate lead with an implied run total of 5.8 on Wednesday. Two infielders who homered on Tuesday comprise of our top two rankings for today. Arenado ended the night going 3-for-5 with a homer and a double. Story smacked two hits of his own. The Rockies will face right-handed pitcher Seth Lugo on Wednesday. Arenado has a .217 ISO against righties and Story has a .188 ISO against right-handed pitchers.

The Red Sox have had some tough matchups recently, which has knocked down some of their batters in our rankings. For Wednesday, some of them return to the top portion of the list. Martinez is batting .364 (8-for-22) with one home run (four walks) in the past week. Boston is projected to score 4.9 runs on Wednesday and Martinez leads the team with a .357 ISO against righties.

Outfielders

1. Mookie Betts, BOS (@ MIN)

2. Charlie Blackmon, COL (vs. NYM)

3. Aaron Judge, NYY (vs. SEA)

19. Mitch Haniger, SEA (@ NYY)

20. Carlos Gonzalez, COL (vs. NYM)

Harper shaved the beard and broke out of his slump by hitting an RBI-double on Tuesday against the Orioles. He’s now batting .083 (2-for-24) this week. On the bright side, his Nationals are implied to score 5.4 runs on Wednesday (third-most). Even with his current dry spell, Harper still leads his team with a .316 ISO against right-handed pitchers.

Guess who is tied for the league-lead with 12 hits and four home runs in the past week? Answer: Nimmo. He’s batting .387 (12-for-31) with two doubles and four homers in the past week. He’s tallied three home runs and seven RBI in the past three games, too. His Mets are actually tied with Colorado with an implied run total of 5.8.
