DraftKings MLB Lineup Advice: Thursday (6/21)

DraftKings MLB Lineup Advice: Thursday (6/21)

There are seven games to break down for DraftKings lineup advice tonight. Only two teams have an implied run total over five which should filter ownership accordingly. It is a great night for GPPs as there are a lot of different paths to take. Let’s go through this slate and discover some of the best plays of the night.

Max Scherzer (WAS): $14,500 vs. BAL
The most obvious decision to make is “to Max, or not to Max?” Max Scherzer is in one of the best matchups he will get all season long against a weak Orioles team. Baltimore owns a 24.8% strikeout rate in 2018 and is showing little discipline at the plate with just a 6.5% BB rate. They are a free-swinging team who will get mowed down by an ace.

There are no other top-tier pitchers taking the mound tonight. This makes Max the clear-cut number one option. However, he will cost a pretty penny at $14,500. In his last two outings, Max Scherzer was priced at least $14,000 and only scored 25 DraftKings points. At this price, Scherzer needs to score around 40 DraftKings points to pay off value. However, he can hit that number tonight. The Orioles will likely run out seven or eight right-handed hitters (while also losing their DH), which is great news for Max. On the season, Scherzer owns a ridiculous, 45% strikeout rate to righties. This could very well be a ceiling game for Scherzer, making him a tough fade.
