Tuesday brings us a full 15-game MLB slate where lineup construction will hinge greatly on the weather reports leading up to game time in Colorado. If the rains are expected to hold off at Coors Field then look to pay way down at your second pitcher slot and get in some of the bats at Coors. However, if the rains come putting Rockies and Mets hitters at risk to a PPD then look to pay up at both pitching slots and go cheap with your bats. Today’s recommendations will focus on cheap hitters to fit in just in case the game at Coors is rained out.
As always, be sure to pay close attention to the lineups when they are released and monitor the weather leading up to game time. Pitchers
Chris Sale (BOS): $12,700 @ MIN
Sale has seen a velocity bump in his last two starts and the results have been great recording 19 strikeouts over 14 innings while yielding just two runs. Sale will travel to Minnesota as a big road favorite over the Twins and Jose Berrios. The Twins offense has struggled against lefties over the last 30 days ranking in the bottom six in wOBA (.276) and wRC+ (70). Sale also has a 25.8% strikeout rate against Twins hitters in his career over 159 plate appearances. If the game at Coors Field plays then consider pivoting off Sale, way down to Eric Lauer in order to fit in a bunch of Rockies and Mets hitters.
