Tuesday features a massive 15-game main slate on FanDuel where every MLB team will take the field. There is no clear-cut ace pitcher to target tonight, so there will be no shortage of variety scattered across your opponent’s lineups. There are a lot of solid pitching options in the $8K-$9.5K range, with a few pitchers facing off against some of the worst offenses in the majors.
As always, be sure to pay close attention to the lineups when they are released and monitor the weather leading up to game time. Pitcher
Mike Foltynewicz (ATL): $9,000 vs. NYM
Alright, so this isn’t a traditional value play when you look at it from the surface, as $9,000 isn’t exactly cheap. But that doesn’t mean Folty isn’t an absolute bargain given the matchup. The Mets have one of the worst offenses in all of baseball and Folty has been pitching lights-out this season. He offers arguably the highest strikeout upside of any pitcher on the slate and Atlanta opened up as a -165 favorite, which means bookmakers think he’s in line for a relatively easy victory.
Hitters
Ian Kinsler (LAA): $3,400 vs. SEA
Kinsler has been on fire as of late, with seven multi-hit outings in the last two weeks and gets an excellent match-up against Seattle’s Mike Leake, who is sporting a 4.28xFIP heading into tonight’s game. I think he has one of the highest floors of any positional players tonight.
Carlos Correa (HOU): $2,700 vs. OAK
Correa is making his return to the lineup on Tuesday night, with FanDuel failing to account for his return as clearly noted by this egregiously-low price tag. Let’s not complicate things. Carlos Correa is $2,700. You’re starting him. He is simply too talented to be priced this low.
Eugenio Suarez (CIN): $3,700 vs. KC
Suarez seems to have fallen into the category of ‘players that consistently get undervalued because of their team affiliation.’ Yes, we know, the Reds stink. But Suarez is on pace for a career year in almost every category as he enters tonight with a .301/.386/.568 slash line with 12 home runs and 48 RBIs. He is facing off against Kansas City’s Ian Kennedy, who has simply been atrocious this season. He is giving up a 39% hard contact rate to right-handed hitters this season, including a wOBA of .367. If you are playing in cash games, Suarez seems like a very safe option tonight.
Carlos Gomez (TB): $2,300 vs. TOR
Gomez will no-doubt come with some risk, as he is batting a woeful .183 this season. But he gets an excellent matchup against a familiar foe in Jaime Garcia. If you’re a strong believer in BvP statistics, Gomez is 13-for-37 lifetime against Garcia, which is not a surprise because Gomez typically fares better against left-handed pitching. But for the price-point, he is worth a look in the outfield tonight in order to pay up for some of the bigger bats.
Jesse Winker (CIN): $2,900 vs. KC
Winker faces off against Kennedy tonight, which as I stated earlier, is a very good thing for DFS purposes. It is also worth noting that he has been swinging one of the hottest sticks in all of baseball in the past week. He’s sporting a .409 average in 22 at-bats, including two home runs in the past seven days. Given his recent form and matchup, he is most certainly worthy of a roster spot.
