Marquee pitching options are sparse on Saturday night’s 11-game MLB DFS slate on FanDuel after the parade of aces that were on display under the lights on Friday. As such, it is difficult to fit in both a high-priced ace pitcher and a bunch of hitters from the desirable game at Coors Field. My lineup does manage to get a piece of both while still deploying my favorite “suited connectors” strategy of pairing up hitters from the same team up and down my roster.
As always, be sure to pay close attention to the lineups when they are released and monitor the weather leading up to game time. Pitcher
Patrick Corbin (ARI): $9,600 @ SD
Justin Verlander is the clear-cut ace pitcher to own on Saturday night’s slate but with a $12,000 price point, it is difficult to get quality Coors Field exposure if you plug him in your pitching slot. So, instead, I’ll look to roster the next best thing in Patrick Corbin who comes at a $2,400 discount and get a prime matchup pitching in San Diego against the Padres. The Friars continue to strikeout at an elevated rate against left-handed pitching with the second-highest strikeout rate (25.7%) over the last 30 days. They do have some power bats to watch out for, but Corbin should be able to neutralize them with his reverse splits this season allowing just a .237 wOBA and 0.68 HR/9 to right-handed hitters.
