Fantasy Baseball Injury Report: Noah Syndergaard, Wilson Ramos, Carlos Martinez

The All-Star break is finally over and baseball is back for Week 16 of the fantasy season. Despite the break, there are still plenty of injuries to track around the league.

Noah Syndergaard had to be removed from his first start after the All-Star break after his velocity was down to 94 mph. Initially, the injury was disclosed as dead arm, but Syndergaard is now going to the 10-day disabled list with hand, foot, and mouth disease. This is a rarity among MLB players, so a timetable is purely speculative, but the Mets are hopeful he will only miss one start.

Wilson Ramos suffered a strained left hamstring Saturday and was placed on the 10-day disabled list on Wednesday. He is expected to be out until after the end of July. Adam Moore was called up from Triple-A and Jesus Sucre has received the majority of the playing time in the absence of Ramos.

Carlos Martinez felt discomfort in his side when he was fielding a ground ball in his last start. After the game, he was placed on the 10-day disabled list with an oblique strain in his right side. The Cardinals are optimistic that Martinez will only have to miss one start, but there is no official timetable set for his return.

Here are a few more injuries we are tracking to start the season.

Manuel Margot (OF – SD)
Margot had to be removed from the game on July 20 after attempting to make a catch in the outfield. X-rays were negative on his left wrist and the injury is diagnosed as a sprain. He is currently listed as day-to-day and could avoid a trip to the disabled list.

Nomar Mazara (OF – TEX)
Mazara was placed on the 10-day DL on July 20 with a right thumb sprain. It is not clear when Mazara will return, but he is expected to need more than the minimum stay on the disabled list. Willie Calhoun was called up and should get everyday at-bats in his absence.

Kevin Kiermaier (OF – TB)

He suffered a groin injury Sunday, and there’s been indication that he could require a DL stint as a result of the latest injury.
