DRAFT MLB Lineup Advice: Wednesday (8/15)

DRAFT MLB Lineup Advice: Wednesday (8/15)

We have 14 games on Wednesday, as Arizona and Texas get the day off. DRAFT has provided us with three time slots: 1:10 pm EST (14 games), 3:35 pm EST (11 games), and 7:05 pm EST (10 games).

Seven games have an over/under of at least nine total runs. Both the MIL/CHC matchup and the game between TOR/KC lead the slate with 9.5 total runs. Three teams are heavy favorites (-200 odds, or greater), according to Vegas: Braves, Astros, and Yankees.

This article is posted well before lineups are released by the managers. If you have a question, feel free to reach me on Twitter @CharlieSideHstl.

It was not a favorable finish for Justin Verlander on Tuesday. Even though he didn’t record a win, JV was able to notch 11 strikeouts against the Rockies. Cole will get his chance on Wednesday. Cole has compiled at least eight strikeouts in five of the past six starts for Houston. He’s also allowed two earned runs, or less, in four of the past five appearances.

Archer returns to the American League, this time to take on the Twins. Minnesota is currently 21st in team wOBA (.315) against right-handed pitchers. Archer has allowed three earned runs, or less, in 10 consecutive starts. However, he’s only punched out six batters, or more, in six of those contests.

17. Anthony Rendon, WSH (@ STL)

18. Eugenio Suarez, CIN (vs. CLE)

19. Cody Bellinger, LAD (vs. SF)

20. Xander Bogaerts, BOS (@ PHI)

Ramirez refuses to cool off, so we’ll continue to rank him as our top infielder on DRAFT. He’s homered in three straight games and has tallied at least two hits in each of those games, as well. In the past week, J-Ram is 10-for-22 (.455) with two doubles, three home runs, and five walks.

The Yankees lead the slate with an implied run total of 5.4 runs on Wednesday. Gregorius and Andujar are both the hottest bats for New York. In the past week, Gregorius is 8-for-23 (.348) with one home run (two walks). Andujar leads the team with nine hits in the past seven days (.321 AVG). He’s notched two doubles and three home runs during that span.

Outfielders

1. Ronald Acuna Jr., ATL (vs. MIA)

2. Mookie Betts, BOS (@ PHI)

3. Andrew Benintendi, BOS (@ PHI)

4. Giancarlo Stanton, NYY (vs. TB)

5. Michael Brantley, CLE (@ CIN)

6. Brandon Nimmo, NYM (@ BAL)

7. Nick Markakis, ATL (vs. MIA)

8. Bryce Harper, WSH (@ STL)

9. Christian Yelich, MIL (@ CHC)

10. Michael Conforto, NYM (@ BAL)

11. Juan Soto, WSH (@ STL)

12. Justin Upton, LAA (@ SD)

13. Starling Marte, PIT (@ MIN)

14. Mallex Smith, TB (@ NYY)

15. Aaron Hicks, NYY (vs. TB)

16. Brett Gardner, NYY (vs. TB)

17. Rhys Hoskins, PHI (vs. BOS)

18. Nicholas Castellanos, DET (vs. CWS)

19. Eddie Rosario, MIN (vs. PIT)

20. Teoscar Hernandez, TOR (@ KC)

If you’re not rostering Acuna in your DRAFT Dream Team lineups, you’re doing it wrong. I was shocked to see that my lineup was the only one in a $10, three-team contest with Acuna on the roster. Acuna rewarded me by belting two home runs and tallying 35 fantasy points. Acuna leads the league with 16 hits in the past week (.471 AVG). Eight of those 15 hits have left the yard. He’s homered in five straight games and seven of the last eight contests.

Another outfielder on a home run streak, who is also flying under-the-radar on DRAFT, is Upton. He’s homered in back-to-back games and has notched five home runs in the past seven contests. Upton has notched an extra-base hit in seven consecutive games, too.
