Let me start off with a bit of housekeeping regarding the starting pitchers. First, I like Mike Clevinger tonight. However, he simply fell short of squeezing into rosters after locking in this piece’s highlighted stack and a non-cheap SP2. Instead, my preference is to lock in a couple of near upper-tier starters tonight due to the lack of solid bargain options. Speaking of bargain options, a trio of sub-$3,500 one-off options kick off the hitters selections below followed by a four-man stack that’s not cheap, yet will also still probably be rather popular. Circling back to the pitcher housekeeping, be aware that as tantalizing as using a pitcher against the White Sox might seem, Michael Fulmer will be limited to around 70 pitches, making him a terrible play at $7,700 with such a low pitch-count limitation.

Rich Hill (LAD): $9,800 vs. Padres
Hill’s my favorite pitching option tonight. By now, you know the drill. A blister issue is always a threat to derail any Hill start, and the Dodgers aren’t shy about pulling the plug on the lefty in advance of 100 pitches. Having said that, he was allowed to throw 111 pitches in his last turn, and he needed just 96 pitches to get through seven innings wen he last faced the Padres July 10 in San Diego. The Friars rank tied for 18th in wRC+ (92) against lefties this year and have an exploitable 23.9% K% against them, per FanGraphs. Hill’s pitching well in the second half, and in six starts spanning 36.1 innings, he has a 2.48 ERA (3.46 FIP, 3.97 xFIP, and 4.03 SIERA), 1.10 WHIP, 10.3% BB%, and 26.2% K%. His ability to pile up strikeouts paired with his opponent tonight give him a high ceiling that’s desired in GPPs. Hill and the Dodgers are -234 favorites, and the Padres have a team over/under total of only three runs, according to Pinnacle.
