Monday night in the MLB features a modest seven-game slate as baseball rolls into the last week before Labor Day. Be sure to keep an eye on the wind at Wrigley Field as it could be cause for concern for pitchers in that game and give a bump to hitters. Otherwise, the weather looks pretty quiet for a solid Monday night slate.
As always, be sure to pay close attention to the lineups when they are released and monitor the weather leading up to game time. Pitcher
Patrick Corbin (ARI): $11,100 @ SF
There are some fairly big names on the hill Monday night and I’m going right to the top with the highest priced pitcher on the slate, Patrick Corbin. Corbin continues to have an xFIP (2.62) lower than his ERA (3.17) this season and has been very consistent registering strikeouts with at least seven in each of his last six starts. He’ll face a Giants team that will be without one of their best right-handed bats, Buster Posey, and already ranks in the bottom eight in wOBA, ISO and wRC+ against southpaws over the last 30 days. Corbin has allowed just a .185 wOBA to the current collection of Giants hitters this season with a 30.4% strikeout rate. He is my clear-cut number one option on the bump Monday.
