FanDuel NFL Cash Game Lineup Advice: Week 2

FanDuel NFL Cash Game Lineup Advice: Week 2

I don’t want to rush through the football season, but the wait between the final game on Monday and the first game on Sunday is too long. Thankfully, the Thursday night appetizers have been decent, but we can’t get that instant DFS gratification after one game.

Last week, we hit with Kenny Stills (24.6 FD points) and the Ravens defense (17 FD points). So, let’s keep the momentum rolling as we look forward to the Week 2 suggestions.

These write-ups are posted every Saturday before the final injury report comes out. If news comes out prior to kickoff, look for updated advice and suggestions on my Twitter page, @CharlieSideHstl.

Quarterbacks

Tyrod Taylor (CLE): $6,600 @ N.O.
The weather was terrible in Cleveland last week and, yet, Taylor was still able to compile 24.58 FanDuel fantasy points against the Steelers. Granted, he ran for 77 yards and a touchdown, but he was still able to accumulate points. This week, his Browns travel to New Orleans to face the Saints. In Week 1, the Saints defense was torched by Ryan Fitzpatrick. He produced 417 passing yards and four TDs (zero interceptions). Fitz-magic even ran for 36 yards and a TD.

Other notables:

Ben Roethlisberger (PIT): $7,600 vs. KC
Deshaun Watson (HOU): $7,400 @ TEN
Jimmy Garoppolo (SF): $7,300 vs. DET

Running Backs

Dalvin Cook (MIN): $6,500 @ GB
Last week, Cook compiled six receptions (for 55 yards) on seven targets against the 49ers. His target total was tied for eighth-most among runnings backs. Cook also fumbled and averaged 2.5 yards per carry (40 yards on 16 attempts). As for the Packers, Aaron Rodgers was the story on Sunday night, but the Bears running backs had a solid performance. Both Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen combined for 107 rushing yards on 20 carries (Howard was 82 yards on 15 attempts) and they caught a total of eight passes for 41 yards. If one of them found the end zone, especially Howard, he would’ve had a massive fantasy total.

Tevin Coleman (ATL): $5,900 vs. CAR
It’s only Week 2 and we already have some starting running backs out. Devonta Freeman will miss the game against the Panthers with a knee injury. Yes, the same knee that plagued Freeman in 2017. On FanDuel, when you see a starting running back is below $6K, you take it. Both Coleman and Freeman had a tough night against the Eagles in the NFL opener, but they should fair much better against the Panthers. Last year, in Week 17, the Falcons duo combined for 99 receiving yards on 11 catches. Without Freeman, Coleman should get more looks in the passing game, as well as the bulk of the carries on the ground.

Other notables:

James Conner (PIT): $7,000 vs. KC
T.J. Yeldon (JAC): $6,200 vs. NE
Corey Clement (PHI): $5,000 @ TB

Wide Receivers

Antonio Brown (PIT): $8,900 vs. KC
I’ll be honest, in every game that Le’Veon Bell misses, I will make a strong effort to get Brown in my lineup. Roethlisberger force-feeds his favorite receiver and AB can break a touchdown at any moment. Case-and-point, Brown caught nine balls on 16 targets for 93 yards and a touchdown during a storm.

Julio Jones (ATL): $8,500 vs. CAR
Did you watch the Thursday night opening game? Jones was nearly unguardable against the Philly secondary. He made 10 catches for 169 yards on 19 targets. 19 targets! I already mentioned the fact that Freeman is out for this game. Some of those targets could end up in Jones’ direction. Last year, against the divisional foe, Jones caught a total of 11 balls for 198 yards on 23 targets. If Matt Ryan ever got the ball to Jones in the end zone, Jones could contend with AB as the best fantasy WR in the game. With this setup, we have both of those receivers on our roster.

Nelson Agholor (PHI): $6,100 @ TB
Another name out for Week 2 is Darren Sproles. Typically, he’s past his fantasy sports prime, but that doesn’t mean that his absence won’t impact his teammates. Sproles accounted for four receptions for 22 yards last week. Someone will get more looks in the passing game with Sproles out of action. That guy could be Agholor. He already received 10 targets in Week 1. Unfortunately, Agholor only tallied 33 yards on those eight receptions. Here’s to hoping Agholor gets more looks and breaks one for a TD against the Bucs.

Other notables:

Keenan Allen (LAC): $8,000 @ BUF
Adam Thielen (MIN): $7,600 @ GB
Ryan Grant (IND): $4,900 @ WSH

Tight Ends

Jared Cook (OAK): $5,000 @ DEN
If you’re in season-long fantasy leagues, then you are well aware of Cook’s impact in Week 1. He caught nine passes for 180 yards on 12 targets against the Rams. After that performance, Cook was a fantasy commodity on the waiver wire as teams scrambled to fill the void left by Delanie Walker and Greg Olsen. Cook can also contribute to the DFS contests, as well. He’ll face the Broncos in Week 2. Denver made Will Dissly another hot item in the TE department after his three-catch, 105-yard, TD outing against them in the first game.

Other notables:

Jordan Reed (WSH): $6,200 vs. IND
George Kittle (SF): $5,600 vs. DET
Eric Ebron (IND): $5,500 @ WSH

Defense

Texans (HOU): $4,500 @ TEN
No Delanie Walker (on IR). No starting left tackle (Taylor Lewan is out due to a concussion). Potentially no Marcus Mariota (right elbow injury). That sounds like a lot of problems for Tennessee and a big shift towards the Texans defense. Even if Mariota plays, I think Houston is the defense of the slate.

Other notables:

Rams (LAR): $4,800 vs. ARI
Vikings (MIN): $4,400 @ GB (If Aaron Rodgers is out)
Chargers (LAC): $4,400 @ BUF
