FanDuel NFL Value Plays: Week 2

FanDuel NFL Value Plays: Week 2

Geoff Lambert looks at value plays for Week 2.

This piece is part of our article program that features quality content from experts exclusively at FantasyPros. For more insight from Geoff, head over to GoingFor2.com.

Week 1 was one of the weirdest opening weekends in recent memory. Who saw the Saints and Bucs being a shootout or the Jets pummeling the Lions in their own building? This is why we love football, just when you think you know what’s going to happen, the opposite does.

This week I’m not going to be covering the Thursday-Monday slate, but instead will get all my values from the main slate. Enjoy!

**QB value plays will be $7,000 or less, RB/WR $6,000 or less and TEs $5,000 or less

Quarterback

Case Keenum (DEN): $6,700 vs. OAK
Keenum had a solid Week 1 that could have been better had he not thrown three interceptions. Despite that, he still had 22.16 FanDuel points on the strength of 329 yards and three TDs. He gets a matchup with the Raiders that struggled against the Rams last Monday.

Running Back

Royce Freeman (DEN): $6,000 vs. OAK
Freeman was a popular choice last week as a value RB that unfortunately did not pan out as everyone expected, but that’s exactly why I want to use him this week — to use a fantasy football term, he is my “post-hype sleeper.” After last week, no one will be on him, and his matchup with the Raiders is a good one — at least on paper. Freeman got 15 carries last week, and I would expect him to see at least that many this week with 80-90 yards and a TD.

Tevin Coleman (ATL): $5,900 vs. CAR
This pick will depend solely on the availability of Devonta Freeman (knee) who has missed practice the last few days. If Freeman is listed as out or if there is any indication he will be limited, Coleman makes for an excellent value play at $5,900 in what should be a high-powered offense.

Corey Clement (PHI): $5,000 @ TB
This play also depends on the status of another player, Darren Sproles, who did not practice Thursday. Sproles had seven targets to go along with five rushing attempts in Week 1. That’s good volume for a “passing down” RB — all of which would go to Clement if Sproles were to miss this game.  I am not trying to compare Alvin Kamara to Clement, but the Bucs did have trouble slowing Kamara down last week in both the pass and run game, which bodes well for both of the Eagles RBs, especially Clement at $5,000 with potentially 12+ touches if Sproles were ruled out.

Wide Receiver

Quincy Enunwa (NYJ): $5,000 vs. MIA
Enunwa is benefiting from the “Monday night effect.” What’s that, you ask? FanDuel puts their prices up before the Monday night games have started, so they aren’t able to adjust a player’s salary who plays that night. In other words, Enunwa, despite the big game last week, is the same price as he was last Monday night.

I had him in my value column last week and I like him again for Week 2. He had more targets (10) than nearly the entire rest of the team combined Monday, and he will continue to be Darnold’s safety outlet in the middle of the field. He is also their best red zone threat in the passing game.

Kenny Golladay (DET): $5,700 @ SF
Golladay was the lone bright spot for the Lions in last week’s debacle on Monday night. He had 12 targets that he turned in to seven receptions and 114 yards. This was not just a “junk time” stat line, as the blowout didn’t start until the third quarter and Golladay had seven of his 12 targets in the first half when it was still competitive.

Jamison Crowder (WAS): $6,000 vs. IND
I was high on Crowder coming into the season, but he did not start off on a good note with only three receptions for 32 yards. Some of that is a product of the 21-to-0 lead in the second quarter and the run-heavy game plan. With the Colts coming to town, I would expect Andrew Luck and the Colts offense to put up some points on the Redskins’ defense forcing the Skins to pass more than they did last week. Alex Smith is a smart QB, and he knows he needs to get Crowder involved in this offense, I expect them to get him involved early and often on Sunday.

Tight End

Jared Cook (OAK): @ DEN $5,000
Cook, like Enunwa, gets the “Monday night effect” on his price as well. After a huge game by the tight end, FanDuel was unable to adjust his price, and he comes in as the best value at his position — and maybe on the slate. People will be afraid to play any of the pass-catching options against this tough Denver defense. However, the Broncos struggle to defend the tight end. Over the last two seasons, only the Giants have given up more fantasy points to tight ends than the Broncos have. You only have to go back as far as last week to see it as TE Will Dissly put up 105 yards and a TD on them.
