Start

Jarrad Davis (LB – DET)
He had just three tackles last week, so it’s difficult to trust him, but remember that it was his first game in a new defensive scheme. It seems like Ezekiel Ansah may wind up missing this game or at the very least limited, which should create some additional opportunities for Davis. The 49ers are going to try to run on the Lions while at home, but Davis should be the stopping force, or at least the one who gets the tackles funneled to him.

Fred Warner (LB – SF)
Filling in on a depleted linebacker corps, Warner played well in his debut racking up nine tackles while playing 71 snaps. The tackles should rack up once again against a Lions team who likes to move the ball like a west-coast offense. Warner didn’t look to shabby in coverage, either, swatting away a pass from Kirk Cousins.

Benardrick McKinney (LB – HOU)
McKinney played great in Week 1 finishing with eight tackles and played a team-high 57 snaps among the linebackers. He should have plenty of opportunities this week as well, due to Marcus Mariota and Corey Davis not being 100 percent. The Titans will likely try to give a big dose of Derrick Henry and Dion Lewis, so expect the tackle numbers to be there again for McKinney.

Jabaal Sheard (DL – IND)
If this game goes as planned, Adrian Peterson will be carrying the ball a lot. This means plenty of opportunities for Sheard.

Jurrell Casey (DL – TEN)
Have you watched the Texans offensive line “block” recently? It’s not pretty, and they just lost their starting right tackle for the season in Week 1. Casey is a monster against the run, but don’t assume that’s all he can do against an offensive line like this. With DaQuan Jones and Bennie Logan helping up the middle, Casey should find his way into the backfield with Deshaun Watson at least once.

Clayton Geathers (DB – IND)
This would be a week to start Geathers, who is pretty solid when healthy. He’s also going against Adrian Peterson in a week where Washington is a heavy-favorite, which means plenty of attempts. He totaled seven tackles and a forced fumble against the Bengals last week, who didn’t run the ball as much as Washington will.

Kavon Frazier (DB – DAL)
Now a full-time player in the secondary, Frazier will have a chance to make a name for himself on primetime against Eli Manning and the Giants. He’s going to be tasked with helping out and covering Saquon Barkley catching passes out of the backfield, as well as helping out with Sterling Shepard in the slot. You want tackle opportunities for your DBs and Frazier should have them.

Sit

Raekwon McMillan (LB – MIA)
It wasn’t the greatest debut for McMillan against the Titans where he had just six tackles on 61 snaps in a game that should’ve allowed him to rack up stats against Blaine Gabbert in bad conditions. While it’s difficult to gauge that game due to the weather, it’s clear he’s not a difference-maker just yet, though it’s important to remember he’s coming back from a season-long injury. Play the wait-and-see approach.

Mark Barron (LB – LAR)
There’s more risk playing Barron than needed, as the team is just too stacked for him to produce consistently. When you think about the fact that the Cardinals are likely to fall behind often while on the road, how many tackle opportunities will Barron have if he’s not playing all the snaps? Dealing with an Achilles injury, expect them to take it easy with him.

Muhammad Wilkerson (DL – GB)
Many IDP leaguers thought that Wilkerson would be a stud in Green Bay, though it didn’t look like it in Week 1 against the Bears. He did play 43 snaps, but managed to have just one quarterback hurry. There may be a reason he was signed to just a one-year deal in free agency.

Ndamukong Suh (DL – LAR)
While Aaron Donald terrorized opposing quarterbacks, Suh’s stats will take a hit. He didn’t register a sack or a quarterback hurry last week, though he did total two tackles. The issue is that the Cardinals don’t figure to run the ball very much this week, making Suh a risky play.

Jason Pierre-Paul (DL – TB)
After their Week 1 game, Pierre-Paul said his knee was “jacked up.” He’s apparently been wearing a brace around the facility and is somewhat iffy for the game. He played 48 snaps last week, but you should anticipate that coming down with the injury, and the Saints offensive line builds a fortress around Drew Brees.

Mike Adams (DB – CAR)
With Devonta Freeman banged-up and Tevin Coleman a better receiver than anything, the rushing attempts may not be where you’d like them to be for someone like Adams, who makes his living coming up into the box and notching tackles.

Jalen Ramsey (DB – JAC)
The Patriots aren’t dumb – they won’t throw at Ramsey, who will likely just play sides in this game. When starting a DB, you want him to have tackle opportunities, and they’re probably going to use Chris Hogan and Phillip Dorsett to just lengthen the field to open some passes underneath.
