Mike Tagliere’s Week 3 Fantasy Football Rankings
There are a lot of overreactions in the fantasy community this time of the year, and my pal Heath Cummings from CBS put it best in a tweet recently. Through two weeks of 2017, Trevor Siemian was the No. 1 fantasy quarterback, Ty Montgomery was the No. 3 running back, J.J. Nelson was the No. 2 wide receiver, Jason Witten was the No. 1 tight end, and Coby Fleener was the No. 3 tight end. If that doesn’t remind you to stay humble and open-minded to change, I don’t know what will.
Some of the names that jump to the top of my mind as early-season over-performers this year include: Will Dissly, Jesse James, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Austin Ekeler, and Kenny Golladay. While I am going to be wrong at times, these are the players who’ve performed well over what they should’ve. My rankings will reflect that, as this game we play is week-to-week, and not played in hindsight.
Some rankings may seem off to you and that’s fine. If you’re looking for the explanation for that player being ranked too high/low, you can find that in The Primer, which comes out every Thursday by noon EST. It contains a paragraph on every single player’s matchup from every single game. Until then, enjoy my early look at the Week 3 rankings.
