DraftKings NHL Lineup Advice: Tuesday (10/23)

Eight games are scheduled this evening in the NHL. Tonight’s DFS main-slate features a lot of teams who have lower-than-average implied goal totals. The first week or two of hockey generally showcases a lot more offense. As we continue on into the season, teams will start to find their legs along with a team defensive scheme. Let’s take a closer look at who some of the best options are tonight for DFS.

Center

Patrice Bergeron (BOS): $7,700 @ OTT
Off to one of the hottest starts in the NHL, is center Patrice Bergeron. The Boston forward is one-third of the best line in the league. In his first eight games played, Bergeron has scored six goals, to go along with seven assists for 13 points. Playing a ton of time in a favorable matchup will lend to another great offensive outing for the Boston center. The Bruins will take on a weak Senators team who is ranked 29th in CF% at 41.52. The Bruins top line is skating at a 57.68% CF rate and should dominate possession time, regardless of who line matches them. Feel confident on spending up for the best trio in the league.

Max Domi (MON): $5,800 vs. CGY
It might be fair to say that the Montreal Canadiens are one of the biggest surprise teams of the NHL this season. They are off to a 4-1-2 record after a lot of concerns during the off-season. One of the biggest reason for success in the newly acquired center, Max Domi. He has scored six points so far this season and is proving to the league he can handle first-line duties. Tonight, the Canadiens are hosting the Calgary Flames who are traveling from the west. Traveling west to east is always a harder adjustment for athletes as they lose the hours from the time change. Calgary’s starter, Mike Smith, has struggled this season, owning a .885 SV% and a 3.38 GAA. Montreal, along with the rest of the Eastern Conference teams, plays at a much faster past and should run the Flames up and down the ice. They will create plenty of scoring chances which will lead to goals.

Winger

David Pastrnak (BOS): $7,400 @ OTT
The top pairing option with Patrice Bergeron is winger, David Pastrnak. Off to a break-out start to the 2018-19 season, Pastrnak is showing the world he is one of the most dangerous all-around offensive players in the league. It is starting to become clear that he is the most talented player on the Bruins roster with his amazing shot, quick stick-handling ability, and passing awareness. There are few teams in the league who can slow this line down. The Ottawa Senators are certainly not one of them.

Brad Marchand (BOS): $7,100 @ OTT
The final piece to a Bruins stack is linemate Brad Marchand. Although this is the most expensive group of players to stack together, there is value on the slate. Boston squared off against this Senators team on October 4th, where the three forwards combined for 27.5 DraftKings points. Not only do they have multi-point upside each night out, but they also record a lot of shots on net. They are the focal point of the offense, both on even strength and during the power-play. Playing at least two of three studs will be wise this evening in a great matchup.

Jonathan Drouin (MON): $4,600 vs. CGY
Left-winger Jonathan Drouin is an extremely skilled forward who has yet to showcase his true potential. Starting the season on a bit of a cold streak, Drouin has found chemistry with new linemates Max Domi and Artturi Lehkonen. The three have been the main reason for Montreal’s offensive success. On home ice, the Canadiens will look to shelter the talented forward group by line-matching against the Flames weakest group. Generating a lot of shots for and scoring chances should lead to a multi-point night.

Phil Kessel (BOS): $6,700 @ EDM
The Penguins are starting off their Western Canadian road trip in Edmonton this evening. The Pens are coming off four days of rest and have not played since their impressive shutout win in Toronto. Phil Kessel is one of the most important pieces in the offense as he is relied upon heavily during the man-advantage. Off to a great start, Kessel has four goals and four assists through the team’s first six games. Edmonton is not a very strong defensive team and the Penguins second line should avoid Connor McDavid. Pairing Kessel with Evgeni Malkin is one of the better mini stacks on the night.

Defense

Keith Yandle (FLA): $6,400 @ NYR
The veteran defenseman is an offensive beast lately scoring a point in each of his last five games played. After a rough start to the season, the Panthers will look to get their game back on track against a young, rebuilding, Rangers team. Averaging 25 minutes of ice-time a night, Yandle has been leaned on during even strength and power-play time. The Rangers are among the league’s 10 worst teams for goals allowed and are extremely turnover prone. Florida will be able to take advantage of the mistakes New York will certainly make.

Neal Pionk (NYR): $4,600 vs. FLA
In the same game, look to Niel Pionk for salary relief. The Rangers d-man has been a pleasant fantasy surprise, where he is now averaging 3.5 DraftKings points per game. Pionk played 25 minutes in the Rangers last game and is gaining more and more confidence from the coaching staff. Playing top-line minutes with teammate Brady Skjei and power-play time on the second unit, Pionk is making the most of his added ice-time.

Goalie

Sergei Bobrovsky (CLS): $8,400 vs. ARI
Tonight, the Blue Jackets host the Arizona Coyotes. Off to a 2-5 start, the Coyotes have struggled to score. What is different this year is the ability to generate shots. However, they are not quality shots. This is great news for goaltenders who play against the Yotes because they will have a high point total from the shots on goal. The win is very probable as the Blue Jackets are a -170 favorite in this one. Bobrovsky is expensive but the best option between the pipes tonight.
