FanDuel NFL Cash Game Lineup Advice: Week 5

FanDuel NFL Cash Game Lineup Advice: Week 5

We’re already into Week 5 in the NFL season. Four games have an over/under of at least 50 total points during the main slate. The ATL/PIT contest leads the way with 58 projected total points between the two teams. The Steelers are slight favorites in that matchup.

Also, we still have some key injuries at the skill positions (Leonard Fournette, Randall Cobb, and Giovani Bernard). We also have some players returning to action: Joe Mixon and Devonta Freeman).

These writeups are posted every Saturday before the final injury report comes out. If news comes out prior to kickoff, look for updated advice and suggestions on my Twitter page, @CharlieSideHstl.

Quarterbacks

Blake Bortles (JAC): $7,000 @ KC
Even though Case Keenum failed to throw a touchdown pass on Monday night, the Chiefs are still allowing the seventh-most points to fantasy quarterbacks. In the first two weeks of the season, both Philip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger threw for over 420 yards and three TDs. Bortles hasn’t surpassed the 400-yard plateau yet this season, but he has thrown for over 370 yards in two of his four contests. Without Leonard Fournette, the Jags could look to lean more on Bortles and the air attack against Kansas City in Week 5.

Other notables:

Running Backs

T.J. Yeldon (JAC): $6,500 @ KC
We’ve already talked about the fact that Fournette is out for Week 5. Last week, Yeldon found the end zone twice (one receiving and one rushing TD). He’s also caught at least three passes in three of the first four games. In half-point PPR leagues (FanDuel’s scoring system), the Chiefs have allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing running backs. This season, Kansas City has allowed six total touchdowns (four rushing and two receiving) to opposing RBs.

Aaron Jones (GB): $6,100 @ DET
Multiple wide receivers are questionable for Green Bay. While that could provide value to the wide receiver position, it also could mean more work for the Packers RB. In Week 4, Jones tallied 65 rushing yards on 11 carries (5.9 yards per rush). At $6,100, Jones is more than affordable. If he’s the main back for Green Bay, like we all believe he will, Jones could be in line for a profitable game against the defense that allows the third-most fantasy points to opposing RBs.

Other notables:

Wide Receivers

Antonio Brown (PIT): $9,000 vs. ATL
Pittsburgh is projected to score a slate-high 30.5 points in Week 5. I’m expecting Brown to be a big factor on Sunday. He’s already scored a touchdown in three of the first four games and tallied at least 11 targets during that span. The Falcons defense has allowed seven total receiving touchdowns to opposing wide receivers this season.

Julio Jones (ATL): $8,800 @ PIT
I believe the two stud wide receivers in the ATL/PIT matchup will continue to try to one-up each other throughout the game. Jones notched nine receptions for 173 yards last week and he’s recorded at least 96 yards in three of the last four contests this season. The Steelers secondary has allowed the third-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers in 2018.

Robert Woods (LAR): $7,200 @ SEA
After the MIN/STL game in Thursday’s Week 4 game, take your pick at a Rams wide receiver. Thus far, Woods and Brandin Cooks are tied with 25 targets this season. Cooper Kupp is only two targets away from his teammates. As for Woods, he’s produced at least 100 receiving yards and one TD in back-to-back games.

Other notables:

Tight Ends

George Kittle (SF): $6,400 vs. ARI
I’ve listed Kittle as an “other notable” option for a couple weeks and now it’s time to give him the spotlight he’s earned. Last week, Kittle crushed the Chargers and tallied six receptions for 125 yards, while also scoring a TD. This season, Kittle has been the fifth-most targeted TE (28 targets).

Other notables:

Defense

Titans D/ST (TEN): $3,900 @ BUF
Josh Allen has thrown at least two interceptions in two of the last three starts. Also, he hasn’t surpassed 200 yards passing in back-to-back games. In the first four weeks, only one team has thrown for more than 220 yards against the Titans. The Bills are projected to score the lowest total in Week 5 (17 points).

Other notables:

  • Cardinals D/ST (ARI): $4,300 @ SF
  • Ravens D/ST (BAL): $4,200 @ CLE
  • Broncos D/ST (DEN): $4,100 @ NYJ
