In Week 7 of the DFS football season, we only have two games with an over/under of at least 50 points for the main slate. Unfortunately, we miss out on CIN/KC (58.5 points) and NYG/ATL (54 points) as both of those contests are outside of the main slate.
As far as injuries are concerned, Dalvin Cook is out, again. Ryan Tannehill, Josh Allen, Giovani Bernard, Tyler Kroft, Quincy Enunwa, Leonard Fournette, and Cooper Kupp are all out, as well.
Following the Carlos Hyde trade, Nick Chubb will be a staple in cash game lineups. He’s listed under ‘Other Notables’ at RB, but you know what to do there at $4,800, so I highlight some of the other cash game-viable options in more detail.
These write-ups are posted every Saturday before the final injury report comes out. If news comes out prior to kickoff, look for updated advice and suggestions on my Twitter page, @CharlieSideHstl.

Quarterbacks
Baker Mayfield (CLE): $7,100 @ TB
The Bucs have allowed 16 passing touchdowns in five games. That’s 3.2 passing TDs per contest against Tampa Bay. Sure, Mayfield has only thrown more than one TD in a game once this season, but the competition was tough (vs. Ravens) and he was injured in another (vs. Chargers). If he’s healthy enough to start, Mayfield is an affordable option who will allow you to go after some expensive names in Week 7.
Other Notables
- Joe Flacco (BAL): $7,500 vs. NO
- Mitchell Trubisky (CHI): $7,500 vs. NE
- C.J. Beathard (SF): $6,400 vs. LAR
Running Backs
Todd Gurley (LAR): $10,200 @ SF
Typically, we go cheap on running backs and spend in other areas. He’s the most expensive option in the slate, which could scare away some DFSers. I’m turning towards the best running back in the game and starting him on Sunday. Gurley has scored at least 30 FanDuel points in three of the last five games. Melvin Gordon is close to Gurley’s level. He faced the 49ers in Week 4. Gordon gathered 104 rushing yards and seven receptions for 55 yards and a TD in his meeting against San Francisco.
Corey Clement (PHI): $6,000 vs. CAR
Now, we go back to the bargain bin for our second running back. Without Jay Ajayi, Clement is trying to separate himself as the main RB in the Philadelphia offense. In the Thursday night game against the Giants, Clement tallied 43 rushing yards on 11 carries (including one TD) and caught three passes for 26 yards.
Other Notables
- Adrian Peterson (WSH): $6,900 vs. DAL
- Kerryon Johnson (DET): $6,500 @ MIA
- Nick Chubb (CLE): $4,800 @ TB
Wide Receivers
Adam Thielen (MIN): $8,700 @ NYJ
Gurley is my No. 1 RB for the week and Thielen is my No. 1 WR. This season, he currently leads the league with 82 targets. His teammate, Stefon Diggs, has the ninth-most targets, yet he’s 22 targets behind Thielen. He’s tallied at least 105 receiving yards in every game this season and Thielen has scored in three straight games.
Taylor Gabriel (CHI): $5,900 vs. NE
You’re probably aware of Thielen’s 2018 success, but you may not have realized that Gabriel has notched at least 100 receiving yards in back-to-back games and scored an average of one TD per game during that span. As for his matchup with New England, it’s assumed that the Patriots will take a lead and potentially produce a decent amount of points (they’re projected to score 25.5 points). If that’s the case, Chicago will need to pass. Gabriel could get some solid garbage points and help your FD team in the standings.
Marquise Goodwin (SF): $5,500 vs. LAR
He only caught four passes on Monday night against the Packers, but Goodwin made the most of them. He recorded 126 receiving yards and scored twice (31.5 yards per catch). It’s looking like Goodwin could be C.J. Beathard’s favorite target and the 49ers could be trailing early in this game. The Rams are projected to score the most points in the slate and San Francisco will be forced to play catch-up. Cue the passing game. Also, the Rams are allowing the second-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season.
Other Notables
- Brandin Cooks (LAR): $7,500 @ SF
- DeSean Jackson (TB): $6,700 vs. CLE
- Jarvis Landry (CLE): $6,500 @ TB
Tight Ends
David Njoku (CLE): $5,700 @ TB
I already have Mayfield in my lineup, which means I want to add his favorite, or most valuable, DFS receiver to my lineup. Landry leads the Browns with 67 targets this season, but Njoku is second on the team with 44 targets. He’s tied with George Kittle as the fifth-most targeted tight end in the league.
Other Notables
- Zach Ertz (PHI): $7,500 vs. CAR
- Eric Ebron (DET): $6,800 vs. BUF
- Cameron Brate (TB): $4,700 vs. CLE
Defense
Colts (IND): $4,100 vs. BUF
Josh Allen is out. Derek Anderson is in. I’m in on the Colts defense. Last week, with Nathan Peterman at the helm, the Bills lost in the final minutes on a pick-six against the Texans. This time, they’ll turn to their No. 3 option on the depth chart. Naturally, Buffalo is projected to score the fewest points on the slate (17.75 points).
Other Notables
- Rams (LAR): $5,000 @ SF
- Jaguars (JAC): $4,400 vs. HOU
- Lions (DET): $3,800 @ MIA
