Week 9 is in the books, and at this point in the season, we have a good idea of which teams are contenders and which teams are getting ready to pack it in for the season. We are going to see some major changes in some players’ dynasty value going forward. A lot of older players could see some decrease in value while some of the younger prospects could see a major upswing in dynasty value.

Risers

George Kittle (TE – SF)
Kittle is developing into one of the top tight ends in the league. He’s averaging 13.7 PPR fantasy points per game, making him a dependable option in fantasy. To put that in perspective, he is outscoring Rob Gronkowski, Jimmy Graham, Greg Olsen, and Jordan Reed on a points-per-game basis. He’s a player that’s on the rise, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he turns into a top-five dynasty tight end by the start of next season.

Jimmy Garappolo’s season-ending injury created a lot of ambiguity in the offense. This is causing Kittle to not receive the hype that he deserves. Due to this, he is being criminally undervalued. Now is a good time to make a trade offer for Kittle. His price tag should increase by the end of the season, making him a player you should be targeting now before the asking price gets out of hand.

Jared Goff (QB – LAR)
In a losing effort, Goff passed for 391 yards and three touchdowns. He made some amazing throws, fitting the ball into tight windows while under constant duress. Going into the season, he was considered one of the league’s underachieving quarterbacks. After leading the Rams to an 8-1 record, he should be in the discussion as one of the top quarterbacks in the league.

Goff is still underrated as a dynasty asset. He’s not drawing the trade value on the market a young productive quarterback should, and that’s something we can take advantage of. He’s going to be valued differently from league to league, but it’s worth kicking the tires to see if you can get him for a discount. If he continues to play lights out throughout the remainder of the season, then his dynasty value will solidify him as one of the top quarterbacks in dynasty.

Dalvin Cook (RB – MIN)
After receiving the green light to play in Week 9, Cook wasted no time by rushing for 89 yards against the Detroit Lions. He also caught all four of his targets for 20 yards. It’s good to see him on the field again making plays and being productive. Fantasy owners can now sleep at night knowing that their stud running back is back in action.

The buying window for Cook slammed shut today. His dynasty value should return to its previous state. Injuries always create buying opportunities. Taking advantage of the ebbs and flows of a player’s stock will help you build your dynasty team. Now we have to wait for another for our next opportunity to be able to buy him on the cheap again.

Fallers

Demaryius Thomas (WR – HOU)
Right before the trade deadline, the Denver Broncos traded away Thomas to the Houston Texans for a fourth-round pick. The Texans needed a wide receiver considering Will Fuller will miss the remainder of the season due to an ACL injury. It’s safe to say that he’s in the final stage of his career since he will finish the season at 31 years old

The last few years his dynasty value has been slowly depreciating, and now it looks like it’s going to bottom out. The odds of him transitioning to a new offense and being a productive fantasy asset is very slim. Not to mention that he’s more than likely not going to be on the Texans’ roster next season. Thomas could be out of a job by this time next year, causing him to have zero value in dynasty leagues.

I don’t care whether you have a rebuilding team or a championship contender, you must try and trade him for whatever you can get in return. If the offer is just a third-round rookie pick, then you have to take it. If you don’t sell him now, then you might be forced to cut him next offseason. It’s time to move on, the days of him being a WR1 are long over.

Derek Carr (QB – OAK)
After another dismal outing where Carr passed for just 171 yards and was sacked an alarming seven times, it appears he might not be Jon Gruden’s guy after all. As we all know, Gruden is not afraid to trade away key pieces of his team. Right now, Carr looks like a liquidable asset that could be traded for draft picks in the coming offseason.

The Raiders are currently in shambles. The offense can’t move the chains and the defense is getting worse by the game. No one can predict his long-term outlook with the team, let alone the next time the Raiders will be built to compete again. With that being said, there aren’t many buyers wanting Carr’s services for their dynasty teams. It’s best to ride out the storm to see if he can overcome his team’s shortcomings.

Joe Flacco (QB – BAL)
Baltimore’s offense is broken, and Flacco’s inefficiencies have been the main driver to the offense’s inability to put points on the scoreboard. He completed just 22 of his 36 pass attempts for 209 yards and zero touchdowns. The offense couldn’t sustain drives and that was mostly due to Flacco not being able to connect with his receivers. Sooner than later the team is going to let Lamar Jackson take over the quarterback duties, leaving Flacco watching from the sidelines.

His dynasty stock is about as low as it can get right now and when he loses his job to Jackson, it will bottom out. Flacco is currently not worth anything on the trade market. At this point, he’s a cheap option to fill bye weeks. His future is bleak at best and his time as a starting quarterback is running out.
