Fantasy Football Injury Report: Week 11

Fantasy Football Injury Report: Week 11

Welcome to the dreaded injury report. Professional football is a violent game, and your fantasy players are going to miss time because of it. Hopefully, you don’t have many names on this list.

Jimmy Graham (TE – GB)
We start with a mostly irrelevant injury as Jimmy Graham has been done for years now, but it is worth noting that Graham’s thumb injury will likely sideline him for the remainder of the season. Graham hasn’t been a strong starting option anyway, but this is more to caution anyone considering picking up Marcedes Lewis to go ahead and not do that.

Alex Smith (QB – WAS)
I didn’t see the play in which Alex Smith broke his tibia and fibula, but it was compared to Joe Theismann and Paul George/Kevin Ware. Suffice it to say it was very bad. Smith underwent emergency surgery and, at this point, the biggest question is whether he ever plays again. Colt McCoy took over and almost led the Redskins to a comeback victory and will be the starter going forward. It probably means the end of the Redskins season.

O.J. Howard (TE – TB)
The Bucs mega-talented TE sprained his ankle late in Sunday’s loss to the Giants. O.J. Howard did not return, but the injury did not look too bad. He may miss a handful of weeks, but hopefully will be back during the money weeks. Cameron Brate is a fine pickup if Howard misses any time.

Marcus Mariota (QB – TEN)
You’re not experiencing deja vu, Marcus Mariota really did reinjure his right elbow with an eerily similar ailment to what plagued him earlier this season. Mariota said he was good to go, but players are always overly optimistic about their own status. Blaine Gabbert finished out the blowout loss to the Colts. If Gabbert has to start next week, it’s a significant downgrade for the entire Titans offense.

Kerryon Johnson (RB – DET)
The talented rookie exited early with a knee injury that might be an MCL sprain. Kerryon Johnson could be sidelined for 2-4 weeks if that is the case. It’s unfortunate for a player really starting to hit his stride. LeGarrette Blount and Theo Riddick would form an undesirable committee and it’s not outside the realm of possibilities that Zach Zenner gets involved as well.

Brandon LaFell (WR – OAK)
Somehow still on an NFL roster in the year 2018, Brandon LaFell actually entered Week 11 as the Raiders’ WR1. He did not exit that way as he was forced from the game due to an Achilles injury. Not that you’re interested in any Raiders’ WRs anyway, but it will basically be Seth Roberts, Jared Cook, and a bunch of rookies if LaFell can’t play next week.

Doug Martin (RB – OAK)
Martin was absent from the second half of Sunday’s game against Arizona, and the team said after the game that he was dealing with an ankle injury. He was seen celebrating the team’s second win of the season, and the team is reportedly not concerned with the ankle moving forward.
