Waiver Wire Rankings: Week 10 (Fantasy Football)

Waiver Wire Rankings: Week 10 (Fantasy Football)

Week 9 was less unpredictable than other recent weeks have been in the NFL. In a stellar performance against Washington, Julio Jones finally caught his first touchdown of the season, something we all knew he eventually would do. In addition, Michael Thomas, James Conner, and Kareem Hunt further continued to assert their dominance as we had also thought. That doesn’t mean new names have now stopped appearing on the waiver rankings, though.

Maurice Harris, Nick Mullens, and Adam Humphries are just a few of the players who have started to make their presence felt in fantasy circles. Familiar faces like Mike Williams, Anthony Miller, and Mike Davis are among several repeat athletes who make another appearance too. Due to his consistent workload and billing as a top handcuff in an explosive offense, Ito Smith would join them as well if he was more readily available on waivers. It’s rare for the waiver wire to be reinvigorated to this degree in November, but Week 10 didn’t disappoint. As such, our featured pros are happy to offer their guidance as to which of these abundant options deserve your top consideration.

Waiver Wire Rankings powered by FantasyProsECR ™ – Expert Consensus Rankings

*Ownership % derived from a consensus of Yahoo & ESPN leagues

Q1. How much are you willing to spend (FAAB %) on your favorite waiver wire target (or two) and why do you like him?

Marquez Valdes-Scantling (GB – WR)
Geronimo Allison may have opened the season with a big role, but Valdes-Scantling has surpassed him and become a legitimate fantasy option. Starting in Week 4, Valdes-Scantling has played 81.4% of Green Bay’s snaps, taking advantage of injuries to Allison and Randall Cobb. The fifth-round rookie has flashed some big-time play-making ability, surpassing 100 receiving yards or scoring in four straight Packers’ games. Moving forward, Green Bay will start the rookie opposite of Davante Adams, with Cobb in the slot. Valdes-Scantling will be in a great position to keep posting big games, and that makes him a priority roster add, worth the biggest bid of the week. As such, I’d spend up to 25% of my FAAB on him.”
Jody Smith (FantasyPros)

Marquez Valdes-Scantling is looking like the No. 2 receiver in the Packers offense, and that’s a designation that can be very profitable to fantasy owners as long as Aaron Rodgers is on the field. MVS has shown he’s capable of making great catches and hitting the big play at any time, and it’s clear he’s quickly earned Rodgers’ trust. I’d be willing to spend 20-25 percent of my FAAB on him this late in the season, thinking I’d be landing a pretty nice flex option or WR3.”
R.J. White (CBS Sports)

Jack Doyle (TE – IND)
“Doyle (FAAB 10%) when healthy is the waiver wire target to replace a failing TE or help you finish out your bye weeks. Doyle is also a TE to flex if your starting TE is up against a tough defense. The other waiver wire target that can’t be ignored is Marquez Valdes-Scantling (FAAB 10%). Scantling is an exciting rookie to watch and has the skillset and team to produce fantasy results; he should not be ignored and, worst case, he should be building you a strong fantasy WR bench.”
James Hatfield (Hatty Waiver Wire Guru)

“I’m not even sure how Jack Doyle is still available in almost 70 percent of leagues, especially when you factor in how bad the tight end position has been this year. Despite playing just three games, Doyle has scored at least 13 PPR points in two of them. In his first game back from a hip injury that cost him five weeks, he played 57-of-78 snaps, while Eric Ebron played just 17 snaps. You know the production you were getting from Ebron when Doyle was out? Well, Doyle is going to get the majority of that going forward. He’s worth 20-plus percent of your FAAB.”
Mike Tagliere (FantasyPros)

Quincy Enunwa (WR – NYJ)
“I’ve got Enunwa as my top pickup this week just over Doyle and Elijah McGuire. We’ve been choosing between Donte Moncrief and Christian Kirk on the waiver wire for long enough and finally we’ve got a true weekly starting receiver available in Enunwa. His 24% target share in starts is among the top 15 in football so I’d spend about 12% of my FAAB to acquire him.”

Q2. For owners renting a D/ST in Week 10, what readily available option (under 40%) should they target and why?

“The Jets are owned in 37% of leagues and might have the best matchup of any team in the league in Week 10, facing an impotent Buffalo offense that can’t mount any credible attack. The Bills have turned the ball over a league-worst 22 time and have also allowed 33 sacks, the second most. New York is a top-10 fantasy defense that has forced 21 sacks and 15 turnovers and should be in a position to have elite numbers this week.”
Jody Smith (FantasyPros)

“The New York Jets take on Buffalo Bills in Week 10. The Jets have been terrible, but this matchup makes them an automatic defensive to rent.”
James Hatfield (Hatty Waiver Wire Guru)

“The Jets are the obvious choice here versus the Bills, so I’m going to turn to an under-the-radar pickup that I love. The Indianapolis Colts are coming off a bye and into a terrific matchup versus the Jaguars. As we know, Blake Bortles is extremely turnover-prone, but Jacksonville’s offensive line is also awful, so we could be looking at multiple sacks and turnovers.”
Bobby Sylvester (FantasyPros)

“When looking for a streaming defense, you ideally have a home team who is a big favorite and offers a high floor with sacks. The Packers defense checks every box against the Dolphins in Week 10. They’ve generated 19 sacks over their last five games and it’s not as if the Dolphins offensive line is one of the better ones in the NFL. The Dolphins will be forced to try and keep pace with the Packers, which could lead to some pick-six potential.”
Mike Tagliere (FantasyPros)

“The 49ers have put together quality performances in back-to-back games against bad opponents, and would you look at that, the Giants are coming to town in Week 10. The Niners buried the Oakland O-line with eight sacks thanks to their talented defensive front, and I expect another excellent showing against a mediocre Giants O-line.”
