The later we get into the season, two things help the DFS selection process: 1) teams looking to lock-in their spot at the end of the season (both in the playoffs and at the top of the draft order); 2) bargain bin backups filling in for injured starters. We’ll capitalize on both of those situations this week. As far as injuries go, the following players are already considered “out” for Week 14: Sammy Watkins, DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon, Matt Breida, Melvin Gordon, Kerryon Johnson, and James Conner. These write-ups are posted every Saturday before the final injury report comes out. Quarterbacks

Lamar Jackson (BAL): $7,500 @ KC
This season, the Chiefs have allowed the third-most points to opposing quarterbacks and the second-most points to opposing running backs. Jackson is a combination of those two positions. In the last three games, Jackson has thrown for at least 125 yards and has rushed for at least 70 yards. Jackson has even tallied a rushing TD in back-to-back contests. If the Ravens want even the slightest chance to win on Sunday (6-8 point underdog), they need to keep the Kansas City offense on the sidelines. That means, milk the clock and run the ball. That’s more of a reason to stick with Jackson on Sunday.

Running Backs

Alvin Kamara (NO): $8,300 @ TB
The Saints own the highest implied scoring total of the slate (32.5 points). The Bucs have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing running backs in half-point PPR leagues this season. In five of the past six games, running backs have either rushed for over 100 yards or tallied two rushing TDs. Saquon Barkley did both in Week 11. Adrian Peterson (and Kapri Bibbs) did neither in Week 10.

Jeff Wilson (SF): $5,600 vs. DEN
If you’re looking for a solid bargain bin option, Wilson is your guy. Last week, against Seattle, Wilson rushed for 61 yards on 15 carries (4.1 yards per rush) and caught eight passes for 73 yards. However, he also lost a fumble. Both Matt Breida (ankle) and Pierre Garcon (knee) are out this week. With those injuries, Wilson’s role could expand against the Broncos in Week 14.

Wide Receivers

Antonio Brown (PIT): $8,800 @ OAK
James Conner is out. Pittsburgh could look toward the air attack to supplement the lack of experience in the backfield this week. Brown has been targeted at least 13 times in three straight games and has scored at least one TD in nine of the last 10 contests. Also, the Oakland secondary has allowed five receiving touchdowns to opposing wide receivers in the past three weeks.

Keenan Allen (LAC): $7,900 vs. CIN
Last week, Allen led the way with 19 total targets against the Steelers. That was the league-lead for targets in Week 13. Allen has also scored a TD in four consecutive performances and has caught at least seven balls in three straight outings. The Bengals secondary isn’t terrible, but top-tier receivers have had their way against Cincinnati. Five wide receivers notched at least 100 yards against the Bengals in 2018: Julio Jones (173), Antonio Brown (105), and Mike Evans (179) all dominated. Mohamed Sanu (111) and JuJu Smith-Schuster (111) also eclipsed the 100-yard mark.

Chris Godwin (TB): $5,600 vs. NO
If you follow any fantasy football writer on Twitter, you’ve seen the same stat line for Godwin this season, when DeSean Jackson is out…

12/24/17 (@ CAR) – Three receptions for 98 yards on six targets.
12/31/17 (vs. NO) – Seven receptions for 111 yards and one TD on 12 targets.
12/2/18 (vs. CAR) – Five receptions for 101 yards and a TD on six targets.

DeSean Jackson is out this week, too. Before you ask, yes, Winston was the QB for all three of these games.

Tight Ends

Zach Ertz (PHI): $7,400 @ DAL
In the previous meeting against the Cowboys this season, Ertz had a field day. He caught 14 of his 16 targets for 145 yards and two TDs (November 11th). Ertz has recorded at least 80 receiving yards in three of the past four games and has caught at least seven passes during that same span.

Defense

Chargers (LAC): $4,600 vs. CIN
Full disclosure, when it comes to picking DFS defenses, I look for the teams with the lowest projected point total for the week. Jacksonville was the lowest (15.5 points), but they played on Thursday (scored only nine points). The second-lowest for Week 14 belongs to the Bengals (17.25 points). With Jeff Driskel at the helm, Cincinnati hasn’t scored more than 21 points in a game. The Chargers are rolling, after playing an amazing second half of football against the Steelers on Sunday night. Now, they get the lowly Bungels at home. Sign me up.
