FanDuel NFL Cash Game Lineup Advice: Week 16

FanDuel NFL Cash Game Lineup Advice: Week 16

For those not in fantasy football championships, don’t let your season-long NFL knowledge go to waste. Now is a great time to enter a DFS contest and get a brand new roster. With Week 16 on the horizon, there are plenty of player deals to find and matchups to exploit. So, let’s get to the breakdown.

However, first, let’s review all the players who are “out” for this Sunday’s games: Cam Newton, Odell Beckham Jr., Russell Shepard, Carson Wentz, Bruce Ellington, Quincy Enunwa, Tyler Boyd, James Conner, and Sammy Watkins.

These write-ups are posted every Saturday before the final injury report comes out. If news comes out prior to kickoff, look for updated advice and suggestions on my Twitter page, @CharlieSideHstl.

Quarterbacks

Baker Mayfield (CLE): $7,700 vs. CIN
Mayfield asked the Cleveland fans to show up for this Sunday’s game and they responded by selling out FirstEnergy Stadium. Now, it’s Mayfield’s turn to repay the fans by giving them a show. In the first meeting, Mayfield threw for 258 yards and four TDs against the Bengals. This season, Cincinnati has allowed the second-most points to opposing quarterbacks. They also haven’t recorded an interception since Week 11 (Lamar Jackson).

Other notables

Josh Allen (BUF): $7,700 @ NE
Dak Prescott (DAL): $7,300 vs. TB
Taylor Heinicke (CAR): $6,000 vs. ATL

Running Backs

Christian McCaffrey (CAR): $9,300 vs. ATL
With Cam Newton on the sidelines, the Panthers offense will likely run through McCaffrey. He’s caught at least six passes in five straight games, but hasn’t notched more than 16 carries since November 25th. Ron Rivera, and Heinicke, should look to give McCaffrey the ball as much as they can. In half-point PPR scoring, the Falcons have allowed the fourth-most points to opposing running backs. In Week 2, McCaffrey caught 14 of his 15 targets for 102 yards against Atlanta. Look for more of the same in Week 16.

Tarik Cohen (CHI): $6,900 @ SF
Speaking of pass-catching running backs, Cohen has caught at least four balls in four consecutive games. San Francisco’s defense isn’t terrible against the run, but they also allow plenty of receptions to opposing RBs. Last week, Chris Carson and Mike Davis combined for 14 receptions and 92 receiving yards.

Other notables

Alvin Kamara (NO): $8,100 vs. PIT
Nick Chubb (CLE): $7,900 @ CIN
Dalvin Cook (MIN): $7,100 @ DET

Wide Receivers

Antonio Brown (PIT): $8,700 @ NO
Brown hasn’t surpassed 70 receiving yards in three of the past four games, but he’s still finding the end zone (two TDs in the past three games), he’s a target machine (40 targets in the last four matchups), and JuJu Smith-Schuster is battling a groin injury he sustained on Thursday in practice. As for his matchup against the Saints, New Orleans has allowed the most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season.

Julian Edelman (NE): $7,000 vs. BUF
Josh Gordon is suspended indefinitely, Rob Gronkowski isn’t 100 percent, yet Edelman continues to flourish for the Patriots. He’s recorded double-digit targets in back-to-back games and has tallied at least 80 receiving yards in four of the past five games. In the meeting against the Bills at the end of October, Edelman caught nine of his 10 targets for 104 receiving yards and even earned two carries for 13 rushing yards. The Patriots are projected to score the third-most points in the slate (29.5 points).

John Ross (CIN): $5,400 @ CLE
Keep an eye on his status for Week 16 (limited participant in Thursday’s practice). However, if Ross is a go, make sure he’s in your DFS lineup. Tyler Boyd is out and the Bengals are still without A.J. Green for the year. Ross has scored a touchdown in four of the past six games.

Other notables

Jarvis Landry (CLE): $6,300 vs. CIN
Robby Anderson (NYJ): $5,900 vs. GB
Chris Hogan (NE): $5,300 vs. BUF

Tight Ends

David Njoku (CLE): $5,300 vs. CIN
Njoku has consistently netted at least three receptions in five of the last six contests. Also, the Bengals allow the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends this season. In Week 12, Njoku tallied 63 receiving yards on five receptions (five targets), and even scored a TD against these same Cincinnati Bengals.

Other notables

Eric Ebron (DET): $6,100 vs. NYG
Vance McDonald (PIT): $5,500 @ NO
Austin Hooper (ATL): $5,300 @ CAR

Defense

Patriots (NE): $4,300 vs. BUF
Buffalo isn’t projected to score the lowest amount of points in Week 16, but they’re close. Washington is at the bottom of the list (13.75), but they play on Saturday. Arizona is second-to-last on the list (14.25), but I don’t trust the Rams defense after last week’s debacle. So, the next team is Buffalo. They’re facing a New England team who is looking to right the ship and end the rare two-game losing streak. In their previous meeting, the Patriots dominated by a score of 25-6. However, Derek Anderson was the starting QB at the time.

Other notables

Vikings (MIN): $4,600 @ DET
Browns (CLE): $4,400 vs. CIN
Dolphins (MIA): $4,400 vs. JAC
