FanDuel NFL Cash Game Lineup Advice: Week 17

FanDuel NFL Cash Game Lineup Advice: Week 17

We’ve reached the final week of the NFL regular season, and hopefully your season-long fantasy league has concluded (if not, that’s a topic for a different post). So, we should all be focused on the DFS version of fantasy football right now.

Going into Week 17, we have some significant injuries that we must take into account. Here’s the list of players who are “out,” as of now: Todd Gurley, Matt Brieda, Dante Pettis, Marquise Goodwin, Garrett Celek, Demaryius Thomas, Cam Newton, Taylor Heinicke, Quincy Enunwa, Jermaine, Kearse, Tyler Boyd, Odell Beckham Jr., Russell Shepard, Rhett Ellison, Sammy Watkins, Carson Wentz, Mike Wallace, Colt McCoy, Jordan Reed,

These write-ups are posted every Saturday before the final injury report comes out. If news comes out prior to kickoff, look for updated advice and suggestions on my Twitter page, @CharlieSideHstl.

Quarterbacks

Ben Roethlisberger (PIT): $8,700 vs. CIN
The Steelers are projected to score the second-most points in the slate (30 points). Pittsburgh wins the AFC North with a victory over the Bengals and a Browns win over the Ravens, so you know the Steelers will put a maximum effort into this matchup. Per usual, Big Ben has been a better QB at home. He has a 18/6 TD-to-INT ratio (15/9 on the road) this year. Roethlisberger has also recorded at least 280 passing yards and two TDs in three of the last four games. In the previous meeting against the Bengals (October 14th), he threw for 369 yards, but only one TD.

Other notables

Jameis Winston (TB): $7,600 vs. ATL
Tom Brady (NE): $7,600 vs. NYJ
Nick Foles (PHI): $7,600 @ WSH

Running Backs

Chris Carson (SEA): $6,400 vs. ARI
Carson won some people a fantasy football championship this year and now he looks to add some money to your DFS account. Carson has compiled at least 90 rushing yards in three straight games and has scored four rushing touchdowns during that span. The Cardinals are allowing the third-most fantasy points to opposing running backs in half-point PPR leagues. In the past two weeks, both C.J. Anderson and Tevin Coleman ran for at least 145 yards and one rushing TD. Carson can continue that streak in Week 17.

Royce Freeman (DEN): $4,700 vs. LAC
With the unfortunate news of Phillip Lindsay landing on the IR comes with positive news for his backup. Freeman will finally get the chance to run with the starting job. He hasn’t tallied more than 13 carries since Week 1 against the Seahawks (15 carries for 71 yards). As for his opponent, the Chargers have allowed five rushing touchdowns by opposing RBs in the last five weeks. Freeman hits his value with a one-TD performance and, hopefully, exceeds expectations with some decent yardage added on to the stat line.

Other notables

Damien Williams (KC): $6,900 vs. OAK
Jamaal Williams (GB): $6,800 vs. DET
C.J. Anderson (LAR) vs. SF

Wide Receivers

JuJu Smith-Schuster (PIT): $7,900 vs. CIN
Back to the Big Ben write-up, the Steelers are looking to steal the AFC North with a win and some help from their rivals. Smith-Schuster is looking for redemption after fumbling in the final drive of Week 16. He’s tallied 115 receiving yards in three of the past five games and caught eight passes in two of the last three contests. The targets are there, too. He’s earned at least 10 targets in five of the past six games.

Robert Woods (LAR): $7,600 vs. SF
Woods has been a TD-machine as of late, scoring four touchdowns in the last five games. He’s also accounted for eight targets in five consecutive games and recorded at least 70 receiving yards in 12 of the last 14 games. San Francisco is allowing the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers in half-point PPR formats. The 49ers have allowed nine receiving TDs to opposing WRs in the last five weeks, too.

Julian Edelman (NE): $7,100 vs. NYJ
Speaking of teams who are terrible against opposing wide receivers, the Jets are second on the list (behind the Saints). In Week 12, Edelman caught four passes for 84 yards, and a TD against the Jets. He’s been the model of consistency, notching at least 70 receiving yards and six receptions in three straight games, and six of the past eight contests. He’s also the target of at least 10 Tom Brady passes in three consecutive outings.

Other notables

Kenny Golladay (DET): $6,800 @ GB
Amari Cooper (DAL): $6,700 @ NYG
Alshon Jeffery (PHI): $6,500 @ WSH

Tight Ends

Evan Engram (NYG): $5,900 vs. DAL
Since his return from injury, Engram has performed better than expected. He’s recorded at least 75 receiving yards in three straight games and has earned at least five targets in each contest during that same span. Engram was healthy in the first meeting against the Cowboys this year. He caught all seven targets and tallied 67 yards, including a TD.

Other notables

Zach Ertz (PHI): $7,800 @ WSH
Travis Kelce (KC): $7,700 vs. OAK
Chris Herndon (NYJ): $5,800 @ NE

Defense

Seahawks (SEA): $4,700 vs. ARI
It’s simple when it comes to choosing a DFS defense, for me: Which team is projected to score the least amount of points? Answer: Arizona. The experts in Vegas have the Cardinals expected to score 12.5 points in their game against Seattle. The Seahawks lead the league with a +14 turnover margin this year and have just as many interception takeaways as they do fumbles recovered (12 apiece).

Other notables

Texans (HOU): $5,000 vs. JAC
Steelers (PIT): $4,600 vs. CIN
Chargers (LAC): $4,400 @ DEN
