FanDuel NHL Lineup Advice: Wednesday (12/12)

FanDuel NHL Lineup Advice: Wednesday (12/12)

After a big, 10-game slate last night, there are just four games to break down this evening. Chicago is the only team playing their second game of a back-to-back as they host Pittsburgh. On small slates, stacking becomes vital to win DFS tournaments as well as cash games. Although there are eight teams taking the ice, there are really only a few worth considering. Let’s take a look at some of the best options at each position.

Center

Sean Monahan (CGY): $7,800 vs. PHI
The Flyers travel north to Calgary tonight as they will look to take on the Flames. After getting embarrassed in Winnipeg, Philadelphia will look to bounce back. Unfortunately, the matchup is a tough one. The Flames currently sit atop the Pacific division with a 7-2-1 record over their last 10 games. In those 10 games, they have scored 38 goals. The offense is clicking and the top line specifically is the driving force. Now with 35 points in just 31 games, Sean Monahan is having one of his best starts to a season. Calgary should find success tonight against a battered Flyers team.

Dylan Strome (CHI): $4,300 vs. PIT
Recently acquired from the Arizona Coyotes, center Dylan Strome is an interesting salary-saving option. Strome is reunited with former OHL teammate, Alex DeBrincat. The two torched the league during their reign in junior. However, the two had a little help from Connor McDavid. The chemistry shouldn’t take too long to reignite for so much needed depth scoring. While the Penguins are expected to score some goals this evening, Chicago can create offense as well. At the United Center, we can never count out one of the most dominant teams over the last 10 years.

Wing

Johnny Gaudreau (CGY): $8,300 vs. PHI
One of the NHL’s best playmakers, Johnny Gaudreau has found incredible chemistry with the newly acquired teammate, Elias Lindholm. The pair, along with Sean Monahan, has been one of the best lines in the league, scoring seemingly at will. Well over a point-per-game, Johnny Hockey and the top line on Calgary will look to continue success.

Elias Lindholm (CGY): $6,500 vs. PHI
The Finnish winger was traded to Calgary during the offseason in a huge trade in hopes of adding more offense. Now with 16 goals and 18 assists, we can safely say the Flames addressed the need. What makes the Flames a great stack this evening is looking at the Goals For Percentage (GF%) statistic. On the season, during all strengths, the Flyers own a 45.70% while Calgary has posted 56.02%. On home ice, Calgary will have the advantage of last change where they will be able to line match accordingly to put their top players in positions to succeed.

Alex DeBrincat (CHI): $6,100 vs. PIT
Skating alongside his old linemate, Alex DeBrincat is worth a look as a pairing option. The two will play on the third line tonight, which should lend to the easiest matchup. Pittsburgh has injury issues and will struggle to keep up with all three lines. Sidney Crosby should match the Johnathan Toews line while Evgeni Malkin will matchup against Patrick Kane. This will leave a slow, Derrick Brassard third-line having their hands full of the fast and skilled young forwards.

Defense

Mark Giordano (CGY): $6,300 vs. PHI
Making a strong case for this year’s Norris Trophy, Mark Giordano is the engine that makes this Flames team go. The Calgary captain is averaging 24 minutes per-game where he plays on the power-play, penalty kill, and on the top defensive pairing. Although he only has three goals this season, Gio has also recorded 26 assists. Almost always the one to initiate breakouts, Giordano is always producing fantasy points. His price is tough to fit, but he should be the top scoring defenseman on the night.

Brian Dumoulin (PIT): $4,100 @ CHI
When stacking Penguin players, Kris Letang is certainly the guy we want. In tonight’s case, though, it is impossible to fit everyone. Dumoulin is a great punt option who will log a lot of ice-time on the top pairing alongside Letang.

Goalie

John Gibson (ANH): $8,500 vs. DAL
There is not a lot to choose from tonight for goaltending. Just eight goalies to look at and two of which are in-line to allow a lot of goals. It is usually wise to look at home teams which leaves us with only three options. Of those three, John Gibson stands out as the top guy. He is having a great season and will face an injury-riddled Dallas Stars team. Anaheim is a significantly better team on home ice, securing the important win.
