DraftKings NHL Lineup Advice: Saturday (1/12)

DraftKings NHL Lineup Advice: Saturday (1/12)

There’s a full slate of games today, with two early and 10 more games tonight. Here I’ll focus on the night games only, where there are plenty of good options. I’ll be targeting a couple of teams that are playing their second game in consecutive days- Buffalo (lost to Carolina last night) and Detroit (lost to Winnipeg). The Sabres, while they have improved in this area, still has the eleventh-worst Corsi in the league, while the Red Wings have the fourth-worst. Let’s get to my picks.

Center

Tyler Seguin (DAL): $7,100 vs. STL
A plethora of good options at center tonight, but my pick is Seguin. MacKinnon, Crosby and McDavid are chalk picks tonight (every night), but they are the most expensive as well. Seguin has been on an absolute tear, piling up 11 points in his last 7 games, is playing at home and is $1k less than the previously mentioned pivots.

Steven Stamkos (TB): $7,200 @ BUF
If you don’t want to go with Seguin, Stamos is another great option. In fact, I’m going to try to fit both into some of my lineups, especially with several inexpensive options at wing. The Lightning are on the road, but it’s against Buffalo and they are on the back end of consecutive games. Plus, it’s the Lightning. This team appears unstoppable, led by Kucherov and Stamos, the latter compiling 23 points in his last 14 contests.

Pierre-Luc Dubois (CBJ): $5,600 @ WAS
Centering one of the hottest lines in the NHL, Dubois has 6 points in his last 5 outings. He centers the ‘Jackets top line with Panarin and Atkinson at even-strength and with the man-advantage, I’d say he qualifies as a bargain at $5,600.

Wing

Jake Guentzel (PIT): $6,200 @ LA
Guentzel had 48 points in his first full season last year, he has 42 already this year. He has locked himself onto Sidney Crosby‘s left side and the trio has been one of the most productive lines in hockey over the past 10 games. Guentzel himself has 8 points in his last 5 GP and they get to play the Kings today.

Timo Meier (SJ): $6,000 vs. OTT
Meier has already exceeded his point total from last year and is in the middle of a breakout season. He has remained hot with 5 points in his last 4 games. Ride the hot hand against the defensively-challenged Sens.

Alexander Radulov (DAL): $7,200 @ SJ
Radulov has been great for the Stars since coming to Dallas before last season. After totaling 72 points in ’17-’18, Radulov and stepped it up even more this season with 39 points in 35 games, including 17 in his last 15 contests.

Evander Kane (SJ): $5,700 vs. OTT
The Sharks 3rd line of Kane, Hertl and Donskoi has been the most productive in the league over the last 3 games, with a combined 7 points. They also have 11 in their last 10 and will have a good matchup, as I’ve mentioned, with Ottawa coming to town. Kane himself has 11 points in his previous 7 games. He also gives penalty minutes as a bonus.

Brendan Gallagher (MTL): $5,400 vs. COL
Gallagher is a consistent producer of points, along with hits and penalty minutes and comes with a very reasonable price tag. He has scored a goal in the Canadiens’ last two games and Montreal is at home for Hockey Night in Canada.

Defense

Brent Burns (SJ): $6,400 vs. OTT
I’m definitely having either Burns or Karlsson in my lineups tonight. Both have been ridiculously hot lately (Burns 15 PTS in his last 8 GP), but Burns has a bit higher floor. With the Sharks huge favorites at home against Ottawa, you can’t go wrong with either spectacular blueliner.

Jared Spurgeon (MIN): $5,300 vs. DET
Spurgeon is a small, underrated and often-overlooked defenseman. How many of you know that he’s had more than 35 points in each of the past two seasons? He will certainly pass that mark this campaign, with 26 points thus far. Spurgeon has been on a roll since Matt Dumba went down and has 7 points in his last 7 games.

Seth Jones (CBJ): $5,100 @WAS
While I don’t love the matchup, Jones is still criminally underpriced. Not that we’ll complain. Jones had 57 points last year and could exceed that this season. He’s not shooting as much as last year, but I won’t nit-pick. He has 6 points in Columbus’ last 7 games and makes a nice play tonight.

Goaltender

Martin Jones (SJ): $8,300 vs. OTT
Jones is almost a must-play in cash games tonight as the Sharks are overwhelming favorites at home against the Senators. The GAA (2.80) and SV% (.901) don’t look appealing, but the 20-8 win-loss record sure does. Jones has been good recently, with 6 wins in a row and he’s allowed only 5 goals against his last 3 starts.

Devan Dubnyk (MIN): $7,800 vs. DET
There really are no value goalies tonight, unless you want to go for a longshot, but the Wild are at home against the team with the fourth-worse Corsi in the NHL. Dubnyk has been maddeningly inconsistent this season, but he has won 4 in a row and should be able to put up a W here.
