DraftKings NHL Lineup Advice: Thursday (2/21)

After a light sleight of games Wednesday night, we are back with more than half the league in action tonight. 22 teams will be going at it this evening and it sometimes can become quite a conundrum for fantasy managers to sift through all the options available when building their lineups. Let’s take a look at some players that should be at the top of many people’s lists when the games get underway this evening.

Center

Sean Couturier (PHI): $6,600 @ MTL
Couturier has been playing some superb hockey lately with 17 points in his last 12 games. That total puts him in first amongst centers during this span. Furthermore, Couturier has produced seven power-play points since January 28, and with Montreal’s penalty kill hitting the fritz this year (79.6%), it should make for a solid performance for the veteran from Arizona.

Mika Zibanejad (NYR): $6,600 vs. MIN
Zibanejad has been the best center in hockey since mid-January. He’s had 14 points in his last 11 games (nine goals and five assists). Since January 8, Zibanejad has managed to be on the Rangers’ stat sheet in 13 out of his last 18 games. Even though the Wild are in the top-15 for the least number of goals allowed (3.00), they are struggling lately and Zibanejad can certainly take advantage of this favorable situation.

Adrian Kempe (LAK): $3,000 vs. NSH
A name that was not too popular in fantasy hockey earlier this season now shows up on today’s list for suggested acquisitions. Kempe has had eight points in his last eight games for a struggling Kings offense. Dating back to February 4 his average ice time has ballooned from 13:26 to 16:20. The increase in ice time is definitely encouraging for managers to want to pick him up tonight.

Others to Consider: Auston Matthews $7,300, Ryan O’Reilly $6,400, Bo Horvat $5,900

Wing

Teuvo Teravainen (CAR): $5,800 @ FLA
Teravainen is having a great season as he is on pace for a career-high 71 points in his second season with the Hurricanes. The Panthers are currently surrendering the fifth-most goals this season (3.43/game). Combine Florida’s poor goaltending and the fact that Teravainen has had seven goals, six assists, and a plus-seven rating in his last 12 games makes for another strong night.

Marcus Johansson (NJD): $4,500 vs. OTW
Not much has gone right as hoped for with the New Jersey Devils this season, but Johansson is still making the most of his predicament. He has had 11 points in his previous 12 games, five of which have come on the power-play. Ottawa also owns the fourth-worst penalty killing unit (76.7%) which means Johansson is a good candidate to produce tonight as he is on New Jersey’s top power-play unit.

Others to Consider: Phil Kessel $6,000, Travis Konecny $5,000, Josh Bailey $4,700

Defense

Justin Faulk (CAR): $5,100 @ FLA
Since the end of January, Faulk has possessed the third-best plus/minus rating (plus-10) amongst active defensemen. He also has had two goals and two assists with an average ice time of 22:13 during this stretch as well. The Florida Panthers are a mediocre offense only averaging 3.12 goals per game. Couple that with Faulk’s strong play on defense and it should make for a fantastic match-up this evening.

Colton Parayko (STL): $5,000 @ DAL
Parayko has been impressive lately, as the Blues continue to surge upwards in the standings. He has had a plus-nine rating which dates back to January 28. The Stars have scored the third-lowest number of goals this season (2.51 game) as well. Look for Parayko to continue his strong defensive play this evening.

Others to Consider: John Carlson $6,100, Ryan McDonagh $4,200, Jordan Oesterle $4,200

Goalie

Andrei Vasilevskiy (TB): $8,300 vs. BUF
Most likely a Vezina trophy finalist once again this year, Vasilevskiy has been a rock for Tampa Bay. In his last nine games, Vasilevskiy holds a 6-1-2 record along with a 0.946 SV% and a 1.63 GAA. The Sabres are only averaging 2.88 goals per game so all signs are pointing for Vasilevskiy to continue his hot trend.

Darcy Kuemper (ARI): $7,400 @ VAN
For the first time in his career, Keumper is playing the starting goalie role. He has done well with a 5-3-1 record as well as a 0.916 SV% and a 2.65 GAA since January 21. Vancouver is a below-average offense scoring only 2.83 goals per game this season. This should put Keumper in line for another solid night between the pipes for the desert dogs.

Others to Consider: Jordan Binnington $7,900, Robin Lehner $7,800, Carter Hart $7,500
