FanDuel NBA Lineup Advice: Thursday (2/7)

This Thursday’s six-game NBA slate is a tough one due to this also being the NBA trade deadline. There are a couple of players to avoid here as they are known to be on trade radars but also there are players who could be surprises in trades and miss tonight’s game. The advice tonight will be to focus on sure-fire studs or players that will certainly not be traded.

Two Studs

Kawhi Leonard (SF – TOR): $10,100 @ ATL
The slate tonight affords the ability to pick up two studs, with the first one being Kawhi Leonard in a highly favorable matchup against the Atlanta Hawks. Leonard in his last five games has struggled slightly in his last five games, averaging around 40 Fan Duel points a game. In tonight’s game, he faces the 26th rank defensive team in the NBA. Leonard should be well worth his price tag in this matchup, with the only downside that this game turns into a blowout and Leonard gets rested early.

Damian Lillard (PG – POR): $9,600 vs. SAS
The slate tonight affords the ability to pick up two studs, with one of them being Damian Lillard.  Some users maybe weary of picking him up after a poor night against the Miami Heat, however, he is playing a depleted San Antonio Spurs team playing their second game of a back to back. Lillard has put up 60 plus Fan Duel points twice in the last 5 games. With the Spurs starting Patty Mills, you can lock Lillard in for a very solid night. The only downside is that there is huge blowout potential in this game and that could cost Lillard some playing time.

Core Plays

Steven Adams (C – NO): $7,000 vs. MEM
Adams has a fantastic matchup against a Memphis Grizzlies team that could possibly without its best center in tonight’s game. In his last five games, Adam’s has averaged 31 Fan Duel points per game. Memphis is normally a stout defensive team, but if the rumors are true and Marc Gasol is traded today, Adams will be in line for a monster game. The downside here is that Marc Gasol is not traded and it proves to be a much tougher matchup for Adams than anticipated.

Jayson Tatum (PF – BOS): $6,800 vs. LAL
Tatum is a player who has been trending up in the last few games and in his last 5 games has averaged 32 Fan Duel Points. Tatum is facing a Lakers team that has been surrounded in turmoil and is coming off a 42 point loss to the Indiana Pacers. The Lakers allow on average 44 Fan duel points to opposing forwards, Tatum with his recently better play should be in line for a decent night against the Lakers.

Jaren Jackson Jr. (PF – MEM): $6,500 @ OKC
Jackson has been trending up and with news of Marc Gasol and Mike Conley potentially being traded the offensive focus shifts to him. Though the matchup is tough against the fourth-ranked defensive team, Jackson should have the volume that allows him to exceed expectations. In his last five games that he’s played in, Jackson has averaged 29 Fan Duel points. If both Mike Conley and Marc Gasol are traded away, look for him to exceed these averages.

Andrew Wiggins (SF – MIN): $6,000 @ ORL
Wiggins has been a bit off in his last three games but was on fire in the three games before that. Wiggins faced two tough defensive teams in the Denver Nuggets and the Memphis Grizzlies, but tonight’s matchup brings him a more favorable one in the Orlando Magic. The Magic are much improved on defense this year but still rank in the bottom half of the league in defensive rating. Wiggins should see plenty of touches and should be able to score efficiently against the Magic.

Terrence Ross (SG – ORL): $5,500 vs. MIN
Ross though a bit inconsistent has topped 40 Fan Duel points twice in his last three games and has been playing extremely well in his last five games where he is averaging 30 Fan Duel points. Given his price point and his ability to score at a high-level Ross is a good pick here and could potentially be in for a good night as he faces the Minnesota Timberwolves who give up on average 42 Fan Duel Points to opposing Shooting Guards.

Value Plays

Patty Mills (PG – SAS): $4,300 @ POR
Mills started against the Warriors and there is no reason to think he won’t start tonight against the Portland Trail Blazers. When he plays more than 15 minutes, Mills is capable of putting up around 23 Fan Duel Points. The Trail Blazers don’t have a particularly strong defending backcourt and it should mean a solid night for Mills

Rodney Hood (SF – POR): $4,400 vs. SAS
Hood is a bit of a risky play here admittedly, but he is someone that could see good minutes for the Trail Blazers tonight. If Hood is able to play 15 or more minutes in tonight’s game you could see him easily go for 20 Fan Duel Points tonight. He has the talent and the ability to be a great off the bench scorer.
