FanDuel NHL Lineup Advice: Thursday (2/14)

Happy Thursday, everyone! It’s Valentine’s Day and I’ll be giving a lot of love to some players for your FanDuel lineup this evening. It’s a heavy slate of game tonight, allowing for all sorts of line combos and team stacking. Below is a FanDuel lineup that you can plug in as it is under the budget. If you use the exact lineup, you’ll be right at the cap.

Center

Dylan Strome (CHI): $5,800 vs. NJ
A lot of the focus is on Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, and rightfully so. But Dylan Strome has been carving himself out a nice role since coming over from Arizona. He’s nearly a point-per-game player with the Blackhawks so far.

Strome has 10 points in the last five games and has hit at least 16 FanDuel points in four of the last five. He’s doing all of this despite not firing the puck too often. He only has more than one shot in three of the last 12 games. Strome is proving that quality over quantity is effective on offense.

Nazem Kadri (TOR): $5,100 @ VGK
Nazem Kadri had been held off the scoresheet in six games until his multi-goal effort on Tuesday against Colorado. The game before that he recorded 12 shots. He’s been a little selfish lately, and that can be a good thing for hockey players.

The Maple Leafs face the Golden Knights tonight, a team that has three wins in the last 10 games. It’s a late game that can give your roster one last shot. Hopefully, Kadri can tack on some points at the tail end of the evening.

Wing

Josh Anderson (CBJ): $5,100 vs. NYI
A string of recent success has allowed the Blue Jackets to jump into one of the top three spots in their division. They have a two-point lead over the Penguins but are still fighting to keep a playoff spot. Josh Anderson has been a big part of their success with five points in the past four games.

Anderson takes a lot of shots, and they’ve been going in lately. He has four goals in the last six games. While the Islanders are tough to score against, I like Anderson tonight in an important game.

T.J. Oshie (WAS): $6,400 @ SJ
It’s tough to look past the couple of clunkers T.J. Oshie has put up recently. He has two games in the last three in which he put up a goose egg in terms of FanDuel points. No shots, no points, nothing.

Surrounding that, he’s been finding the scoresheet, and I’m taking a bit of a risk on him tonight. Despite the Sharks’ six-game winning streak, I’m banking on a higher-scoring game and I think Oshie gets two or three points out of it.

Evander Kane (SJ): $7,800 vs. WAS
If it is indeed going to be a shootout, why not grab a forward from each team? Evander Kane has been great all season, and he’s turned it up again lately.

With seven points and 17 shots in the last three games, I’m confident rolling Kane out there again tonight. The Capitals’ goaltending has not been a strong part of their game, so even if Braden Holtby starts, get Kane in your lineup.

Tyler Toffoli (LA): $6,000 vs. VAN
Picking a forward from a low-scoring team can be scary. Tyler Toffoli seemingly did nothing in the first half of the season. Now, it looks like he’s a different player with nine points in the last seven games.

He’s shooting, he’s scoring and he’s on the power play. The Kings are taking on the Canucks, who played last night. I like Toffoli’s chances and maybe the Kings can take advantage of a fatigued Vancouver team.

Defense

Dustin Byfuglien (WPG): $5,300 vs. COL
Now that he’s been back in the lineup for a few games, I feel a bit safer selecting Dustin Byfuglien. He only has one assist to show for since his return but he is shooting the puck a ton and blocking shots. The points will come.

Tonight, he has a great matchup against a struggling Avalanche team that has gone 1-6-3 in the last 10 games. They’re quickly falling behind in the playoff race, and I think the Jets have a good chance at putting up four or five goals.

P.K. Subban (NSH): $5,500 vs. MON
A little extra motivation in the form of facing your former team? I think that’s the case here tonight. P.K. Subban welcomes the Canadiens to Smashville, where the Predators are 18-11-1.

Subban has been very quiet lately despite a goal in his last game. He takes a lot of shots and can add in a few blocks to make it worth the price of admission. For this pick to be rewarding, he needs a goal or a helper, though.

Goalie

Jordan Binnington (STL): $8,000 @ ARI
Rattling off wins like crazy in St. Louis, Jordan Binnington is a fine option for tonight. He and the Blues will take on the Coyotes as the goaltender tries for his seventh consecutive victory. He has had a phenomenal 10-1-1 record this year and has a juicy matchup tonight.

The Coyotes have won two straight games and are fighting for a playoff spot (as is the entire Western Conference). St. Louis has won seven in a row and have found themselves in a Wild Card spot with a chance to catch Dallas.

Take Binnington and ride the Blues’ hot streak.
