FanDuel NHL Lineup Advice: Thursday (2/21)

Happy Thursday, everyone! There are 11 games on tonight’s schedule and a lot of them are on the east coast, giving us just a few late games to choose from. You can use the lineup below on FanDuel and you’ll have $500 remaining in your budget. Here are my top selections for tonight’s contests.

Center

Steven Stamkos (TB): $8,700 vs. BUF
With 12 points in his last seven games, Steven Stamkos is looking like the player we know. He’s been having a great year but has turned it up a notch.

Whether the Sabres go with Carter Hutton or Linus Ullmark tonight in goal, it’s hard not to love Tampa Bay’s chances. They’ve won seven straight and host a Buffalo team that has dropped three in a row. He has 33 points in 38 career games against Buffalo.

Tyler Bozak (STL): $4,600 @ DAL
Bozak recently saw a move to the second line and it has been paying off. The Blues are rattling off wins like crazy and Bozak should continue to be in line for more scoring opportunities. Bozak is coming off a two-point game against his former team and has 25 points in 50 games this season.

Wing

Vladimir Tarasenko (STL): $8,700 @ DAL
A team with 11 straight wins demands attention. The Blues have quickly made their way into a top three division spot. Vladimir Tarasenko was held off the scoresheet in his last game against Toronto, snapping a 12-game point streak. I find it hard to believe he goes quiet again tonight.

The Blues take on the Stars, a team that has dropped three in a row. Tarasenko’s value should go up even more if Ben Bishop is unable to return tonight. Even if he is, Tarasenko is a good pick.

Andreas Johnsson (TOR): $4,100 vs. WAS
Time for a money-saving option. Andreas Johnsson has been very streaky, and I’m counting on him to continue that trend. He put up a goose egg in his last game but put up nine points in six games prior to that.

I expect tonight’s game against Washington to spark a little more energy and can see a fast-paced contest breaking out. Johnsson is a sneaky pick that could do well for the price.

J.T. Miller (TB): $3,900 vs. BUF
Another player this cheap? Absolutely! J.T. Miller and the Lightning are taking on the Sabres tonight and it’s a huge mismatch. Miller scored in the last game on Tuesday and could find the twine again tonight. In 19 games against Buffalo, he has five goals and eight assists. With the way the Sabres have been playing, expect the Lightning to continue their hot streak.

Ondrej Palat (TB): $5,200 vs. BUF
The price tag is a little higher, but I’m going to rely on this matchup. Ondrej Palat has performed better of late with six points in his last five games. With most of the focus on Tampa Bay’s top forwards, I think Miller and Palat could benefit the most tonight.

Defense

Ryan Suter (MIN): $5,400 @ NYR
Suter has quietly been a decent option on defense for fantasy owners. He’s not flashy and hasn’t scored a goal since January 23rd, but he gets a ton of ice time and can rack up the shots and blocks. He hasn’t registered a point in the past two games, but with six goals and 34 assists this season, I like his chances of snapping that mini-slump tonight against the Rangers.

Thomas Chabot (OTT): $5,400 @ NJ
Fresh off a two-goal performance on Monday against the Blackhawks, I’m going with Thomas Chabot again tonight in New Jersey. Chabot is having a breakout year and isn’t too far from being a point-per-game player. There’s nothing intimidating about playing the Devils, and Chabot could grab a point or two on the road tonight.

Goalie

Robin Lehner (NYI): $8,500 @ EDM
The Islanders have been a pleasant surprise this season as they fight for the Metropolitan Division lead. They have a strong defense and two goaltenders who have been magnificent. Thomas Greiss started last night in Calgary, so Robin Lehner should get the nod this evening.

Lehner isn’t going to get you 45 or 50 FanDuel points, but he has a great chance at a win, especially since he’s 14-3-1 in his last 18 games. He faced this same Oilers teams a few days ago and limited them to two goals on 36 shots. Lehner is having a breakout season and should be started most nights. He’ll get a later start with the Isles in Edmonton tonight.
