FanDuel NHL Lineup Advice: Tuesday (3/19)

FanDuel NHL Lineup Advice: Tuesday (3/19)

Only eight teams were in action last night, in a relatively quiet evening. With less than 30 days left before the post-season, expect teams to play a tighter style of play with every game so important. We have a 10-game slate scheduled with plenty of DFS contests available. Vegas expects a lot of goals to be scored tonight, so let’s dive into these games and find some of the best options at each position.

Center

Ryan O’Reilly (STL): $6,800 vs. EDM
After losing 6-3 in Vegas to the Golden Knights, the slim playoff hopes for the Edmonton Oilers quickly disappeared. Now with nothing to play for, we should expect an already fragile team to fold under any sort of adversity. Meanwhile, the St. Louis Blues rank sixth in the Western Conference and are gearing up for a deep playoff run. Ryan O’Reilly is arguably the most valuable player on this team and has now recorded 69 points in 72 games. O’Reilly plays a physical game and will be on the ice against the McDavid line all game. He will have plenty of ice-time tonight which should translate into plenty of offensive opportunities.

Mika Zibanejad (NYR): $7,100
After the departure of former teammate Mats Zuccarello, it is apparent that few offensive weapons remain in New York. Team point leader, Mika Zibanejad, went on a cold streak for a while but should break out against a weak Red Wings team. A very underrated player in the league, Zibanejad is a dynamic player with a speed and skill combo which is very hard to slow down. Capable of multiple points any night, the top center is in a great position this evening.

Wing

David Perron (STL): $5,500 vs. EDM
Playing alongside Ryan O’Reilly, David Perron will also look to set up the top power-play unit. Playing on the back-end during the man-advantage, Perron is the key “set-up” man. Perron has missed 25 games this season but has been back for two games where he has scored a goal and an assist. Like O’Reilly, Perron is a grinder who plays physical with plenty of offensive talent. The top forward line should match up well against the Oilers and could be in-line for a multi-goal evening.

Matthew Tkachuk (CGY): $6,500 vs. CLS
Tkachuk is one of the league’s hottest players right now. With 12 points in his last seven games, Tkachuk now has surpassed the 30-goal mark and a 70-point season. These are huge achievements for a 21-year-old in the NHL. Columbus made bold moves at the trade deadline, however, the moves might not be enough to make a significant run in the playoffs. The additions did not make the team a lot stronger defensively. In Calgary, the Flames should win this game and we shouldn’t be surprised if Tkachuk records another multi-point effort.

Chris Kreider (NYR): $5,700 vs. DET
Las Vegas has this game set at just a 5.5 game total. These are two awful teams with plenty of speed and a lack of defense. Betting the over would be wise as there should be goals to be had. Detroit ranks 28th in the league for goals against, allowing 242 goals against this season. Chris Kreider has emerged as one of New York’s top offensive players, earning ice-time on the top forward line and power-play unit. Against a very weak defense, look for Kreider to chip in on the score sheet.

Defense

Alex Pietrangelo (STL): $6,100
One of the better defensemen in the league, Alex Pietrangelo will have the task of shutting down Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. While he might not be completley successful, we can be sure he will see around 25 minutes of ice-time. What is more intriguing is that he will quarterback the top power-play unit against an Oilers team who ranks 30th in penalty kill percentage (75.6%) and 26th in penalty minutes (9.3 minutes per game). The Blues special teams should find success against Edmonton tonight in a very winnable game.

Ryan Suter (MIN): $5,100 vs. COL
A model of consistency, Ryan Suter is as rock solid as they come, considering all of the blue-liners in the NHL. Averaging a remarkable 27 minutes of ice-time per night, Suter will rack up fantasy points in a variety of ways and will be a tough matchup against a slumping Avalanche team. Producing over 10 FanDuel points per game, Suter is a great cash game option, with plenty of GPP-winning potential.

Goalie

Jordan Binnington (STL): $8,500 vs. EDM
For the remainder of the season, targeting Edmonton with goaltenders should be considered. Now in a different mindset, it will be hard to motivate this team. Jordan Binnington has been sensational this year, owning a 17-4-1 record with a 1.77 GAA and .931 SV%. On home ice, St. Louis is a -210 favorite where Binnington is a safe DFS option with plenty of upside.
