Monday’s nine-game MLB slate has a couple of five-figure aces on the bump, but I find myself dipping down a level in salary when filling out my pitching slots on DraftKings. A large part of that is because there are a bunch of bats in the low to mid $4,000 range that seems like the best plays at their position by a fairly wide margin. We also have one dirt cheap hitter that can help make it all possible. Let’s start off another fun week of MLB DFS!
As always, be sure to pay close attention to the lineups when they are released and monitor the weather leading up to game time. For reference throughout the season, be sure to bookmark our overview of MLB Park Factors and how to Use Weather to Your Advantage in MLB DFS.

Zach Wheeler (NYM): $9,300 vs. CIN
Justin Verlander and Patrick Corbin headline Monday’s slate as the high-priced ace pitching options but I don’t love the spot for either hurler to significantly outperform the cheaper options like Wheeler. Wheeler has lights out in his last start piling up 11 strikeouts in seven shutout innings at home against the Phillies. He gets another home start as a decent Vegas favorite on Monday against a weaker hitting squad, the Reds. The Reds have only mustered a .277 wOBA (28th) and 66 wRC+ (29th) against right-handed pitching this year. They also rank in the top 10 in strikeout rate at 24.4%. I’m willing to roll with Wheeler again as my top option.
