With two slates offering seven games each, we’re going to go with the early slate for you early risers. After some massive weather question marks on Friday, we have a bit more clarity today. In fact, there are only two games projected with rain and neither are too serious. That happens to be the St. Louis and Minnesota games, so be sure to keep an eye on those forecasts before filling out lineups.

Pitcher
Jose Berrios (MIN) $10,000 vs. BAL
Berrios is the second-highest scoring pitcher on this early slate and he’s really tough to fade in this intriguing matchup. Not only does Baltimore sit 27th in xwOBA, they also rank 28th in wOBA. Not to mention, the Orioles rank bottom-five in K:BB-rate as they simply have one of the worst lineups in baseball. That alone makes any pitcher worth using against them, but Berrios is truly in the midst of a breakout season. In five starts this year, Berrios has posted a 2.97 ERA and 0.93 WHIP while striking out 33 batters across 33.1 innings. That’s why Berrios enters this matchup as a -275 favorite, which is one of the largest spreads all season.
Catcher
Kurt Suzuki/Yan Gomes (WSH) $3,800/3,500 vs. SD
I’m not quite sure which guy is going to get the nod here, but they’re both worth considering in this price range. The main reason why is the matchup, with both guys getting the platoon advantage against Eric Lauer. This is a lefty we don’t need to fear, with Lauer posting a .335 wOBA while allowing opposing hitters to bat .290 against him. Righties have been even better, with Lauer allowing opposing righties to post a .798 OPS against him throughout his career. That makes both of these catchers a nice value and they’ve both had success against southpaws throughout their careers.
